More and more I am noticing many players with multiple notebooks when playing. Apart from a score card what would they need ? Charley Hoffman, I watched, scribbled furiously in two notebooks, then took three steps to reassure himself of the exact yardage to the pin, made more notes, then took three steps again, more notes and hit his approach into a bunker !. Ricky Fowler is another who seems to be writing his autobiography as he goes along, no doubt checking his punctuation between shots ! Question: What does the caddy do apart from carry the bag. Some of them seem to have last weeks notes in their pockets as well as those for the course being played. I remember one caddy having a list of "what not to do when your player has a chance of winning." Top of that list would be....don't forget to have plenty of balls, tees, gloves, towels etc. but at The Open at Royal St Georges, a few years ago, Ian Woosnam stepped onto the first tee, in the lead, only to discover that he had too many clubs in his bag ! He got a penalty of some kind....and a new caddy
