Amazing. I never would have thought to use posters as carpet underlays. They look beautiful and retained their bright colors.

They appear to be in remarkably good condition for having spent decades under carpet.
This much is certain: they didn't have any dogs.

There were some posters brought to Antique Roadshow that had been stacked between walls as insulation. Early Cagney, Bogart, the rest of the Warner Bros crowd. They also were worth BIG $$$$$$$ ! I found a mouse eaten newspaper clipping about the upcoming Country Fair from 1906 behind one kitchen wall... worth ZERO

Great article. Thank you Carl.
During the 1970s and early 1980s I went to the movies so often I got to know the manager of the chain of theaters in my hometown. He allowed me to come by his office and look at the latest pressbooks and so forth, but the best thing was he gave me total access to the basement storage area of the main "movie palace". I was in hog heaven. Posters! Lobby cards! Pressbooks! Press kits! Color & black & white stills! I spent every Sunday afternoon going through everything and I was allowed to take anything I wanted. Needles to say I basically took everything. Eventually it all got to be too much to handle since I was moving quite a bit, so every time I moved I gave away more and more until it was all gone. I never thought of the monetary value it all may have had. I was an idiot to let it all go.
