I just re-watched this movie today and I found romance story between her and Edward not so strong.
Let's see this.. She didn't never called the police what exactly happened about burglary, didn't tell people that Edward actually saved her brother, never seen him after that night. I understand she was afraid and didn't know what she could, but I just don't think that she is right for him. Edward deserved someone better than her, but their couple didn't bother me anyway. It feels like she acted of trying hard to be dear to him as friend while he's probably in love with her.
Thoughts on her?

I simply feel it wouldnt last too much imbalance. She is more like a big sister figurehead then an actual soulmate.

I interpreted her as being the kind of crush a 7-8 year old boy might have on his 16-17 year old baby sitter. As in, she knew he was head over heels for her and kind of humored him. She genuinely cared for him and wouldn't have wanted to break his heart, but he was more or less a child upstairs. There was a sort of nobility to her character in how she felt the need to guard or protect Edward.

Did anyone notice how her old woman voice is the same voice she actually has now in stranger things? Lol
