Remember when December 2012 or January 2000 was supposed to mark the 'world's end' before? Yeah... Has anyone on this thread said that he or she believed the world would end on September 23? Have you met anyone, anywhere, who believed that the world would end on September 23? I haven't. The only ones I see pushing end-of-the-world are those in the media, and it doesn't seem to be as prevalent an idea as they are making it out to be. It may be a significant date like December 2012 was a significant date, but it doesn't mean the world will end. Like you, I haven't actually met anyone who believed the world would end either and heard mostly about this one through media at the last minute. The December 2012 and January 2000 ones were at least more prominent compared to this one, and even those dates were never true. Even the Mayans never believed in the 2012 one. I guess it'll be fun for some folks to keep track on every conspiracy/doomsday date now and then, fabricated or at its sincerest.

Remember when December 2012 or January 2000 was supposed to mark the 'world's end' before? Yeah... According to Jehovah's Witness the world was going to end in 1975 i think it was. And in 1914 and 1925 and lets not forget about the end of the world in 1874,1878 and 1881. And here are more years that was suppose to mark the end of the world 539 A.D. 1780 1798 1799 1829 1840 1844 1846 1872 1874 1878 1880 1881 1891 1906 1910 1914 1915 1917 1918 1920 1921 1925 1926 1928 1932 1935 1940s 1951 1975 2000 2012 2017 And my guess is that there are plenty more of those years.

As I explained on the Soapbox the date has changed to 10/21/17. This is how it will end. On the morning of Oct. 21, 2017 the human race is going to wake up to a sky that looks like this At first people will think how beautiful it looks but soon after that panic will start to set in. Then as the sky changes to this that is when real panic sets in. People will be screaming in the streets. Then it will start in the southern hemisphere In a few short hours it will look like this Then this And then the end Then where beautiful earth once was this is what is left. One small dot that was once earth When the small dot burns out there will be no evidence humans ever existed in the whole universe. So see your loved ones before 10/21/17. Wish them well. Goodbye my friends

Well, if that all comes to pass, at least I won't have to sort through all my junk before moving. Seriously, though--why Oct. 21? Why not ten days later, on Halloween?

To ironically correspond with the December 21st date before Christmas, I'm guessing? Let's just ruin everyone else's holiday mood wit a doomsday! Lol!

smirk giggle Maybe or they just like the thrill they get out of living under the belief the world is going to end. I think with some of the Doomsday Preppers it is a publicity stunt sometimes especially when they get given their own TV shows.

I've seen some of those tv shows and they're kindve interesting in as far as what you can learn about survival techniques. But what I also found fun was that you learn just how UN-prepared they actually are! There was one show that had them have to go from point A to point B in the eventuality of a true doomsday scenario, and very few were able to make it.

I haven't seen the shows but I used to see a lot of ads for them on Foxtel a few years ago and that sounds like some of the other shows like 'Ghost Hunters' and 'Finding Bigfoot' and I think if they found what they were looking for they wouldn't be prepared for it and would probably run away. Have you seen those shows?

So according the Meade's revised statement, the world actually ends tomorrow. Somehow, I think that if something at least the size of a planetoid was close enough to hit us tomorrow, you wouldn't even need a telescope to see it at this point.
