I still don't understand this. Golden circle appears to be Matthew's first Rotten movie. Same with Ninjago. Kingsman I think was a very unexpected hit and I don't think Matthew expected it to be as big as it got so I don't know if he felt forced to do a sequel and maybe he didn't want to do a sequel and he just didn't have as much fun with the movie because of that.
Ninjago I was really shocked by as well. I truthfully thought Lego Batman was gonna be the downfall of the Lego movies. Lego Batman didn't do anything for me as a movie either and I don't know why it has such a high rating. Ninjago did look really funny I thought though and was one I was really excited for, this really disappoints me.

I'm not that surprised. The first Kingsman doesn't hold up too well to repeat viewings. The highly predictable but fun plot became a lot less fun after the first time I watched it and Eggsy became more annoying. As did SLJ and his homely henchwoman. Is Eggsy a common nickname in the UK? I did enjoy watching world leaders heads explode though.

. What people love the first time sometimes becomes too much for its own good. It seemed to take no time for people to get tired of the Pirates movies. Barring me anyway.

Still watching Kingsman 2. But I thought Lego Ninjago looked tired from the 1st reveal before Lego Batman.

I always felt the original Lego Movie had a short life span and was an extreme beneficiary of low expectations. These other Lego films aren't really any better or worse, it's just now people have expectations now. I'm looking forward to the full demise of this movie franchise that never was.
I can't comment on Kingsman unfortunately, never seen either.

These reviews are quite unfortunate, but the marketing for Lego Ninjago was just screaming kids movie. (especially the behind the bricks video where Zane dabs and the obsession of Lloyd doing the "whip/nae-nae") they were obviously trying to make it as "cool" as possible for kids. WTF Warner Bros?

That was my problem with the Lego Batman movie. It really went overboard with the supposedly 'hip' slang that all the kids are using and chatter disguised as banter.

Legos dabbing? I thought that died after cam newton's career hit the turf faster than he does after a sack. Don't movie execs know by the time they hear about a trend it's already over? Just because they see it on Black-ish don't mean it's fresh. In fact it means the exact opposite.

I actually just got back from seeing Kingsman. I actually thought it was just as good as the first. Yes it's a little slow, yes it's not as clever and there was a scene that was really not needed. Other than that the action was still pretty damn good I don't think there was a scene that topped the church scene, but I wasn't expecting there to be one honestly. Would I see this again? ABSOLUTELY!!' Elton John was also really funny!!!
Critics were just way too harsh. I don't think Vaughn has lost his touch at all. Very glad I saw it!!! 9/10 for me.

Critics were just way too harsh. I do not get the power critics hold over the millennial. When I was young it was understood critics hated everything people liked & liked the artsy fartsy stuff most people hated

Most people don't agree with them anyway. I truthfully only listen to them so I know how to feel about expectations.

I've always held the belief that critics find it more fun (and powerful) to trash the daylights out of new movies.
They do sometimes like some things I like, but I don't listen to them completely.
I check the numbers for actual viewers, though.

Ninjago did look really funny I thought though and was one I was really excited for, this really disappoints me. A bit of interesting trivia that might help explain some of the issues with the film (or maybe not): Vaughn's first cut of the film was 3h 40 min long: “I thought it was highly watchable… That was the part about being a sequel as well, I lost my discipline where you’re with a bunch of friends and you go, ‘Oh that’s a good idea’, and it was a good idea, but everything just got longer and longer and longer. There was a moment where the studio said, ‘Hey should we do The Golden Circle Part 1 and Part 2?’ and I went ‘Absolutely no way we’re doing that, this is The Golden Circle. But maybe I can do another cut. Some of the stuff we cut out was so good, as well, that I was very sad to see it cut. But I think it could be pretty cool to do a Kingsman: The Golden Circle – Version 2, it might be fun. If people see this I’ve got a real—and also that will spark some real debate about what I cut out and why, and I’m sure some people will say I was an idiot for doing it.” - Matthew Vaughn collider.com/kingsman-2-alternate-cut-matthew-vaughn/#extended-cut

When I was young it was understood critics hated everything people liked & liked the artsy fartsy stuff most people hated Because that's a blatant generalization now, and probably back when you were young as well. As far as Kingsman goes, I don't think anything went "wrong" with it. I agree with the posters saying it was about as good as the first one, only I didn't think that film was anything special.

I check the numbers for actual viewers, though. in my experience trashing a movie gives you more space to be funny with it. praising a movie can lead to a piece that is a bit "boring" to read. but I never trash a movie just for the "fun" of it. Plus each time you trash a movie you KNOW it is GUARANTEED you are going to upset someone/some group so its like you are asking for trouble. That doesn't feel good either…

for me what went wrong with Kingsman was twofold: 1. the move of the universe to a completely far off future (where independently thinking nano robots can do just about anything anything and healing a head shot takes a few minutes it seems). It somewhat lost credibility in a lot of turns, because of that. and 2. I had trouble cheering for the Kingsmen and Statemens going against someone who believed drugs should be legal. Yeah yeah she did a lot of evil shit and was super cruel and crazy, but I happen to somewhat sympathize with her agenda, personally. aAd at the same I couldnt really get So Mad at the president for thinking the world would be better off without junkies. So to me a good villain and good reason to root for the good guys was missing.
having said that… I really enjoyed the movie. Oddly enough NO PART of it had any emotional impact on me, which was strange to me and I attribute it to the reasons listed above. I couldnt really connect with it as much as I did with Kgsm1. but I did enjoy this ride a lot. Awesome action, fun effects, great use of singing, fun all around. Would recommend it. Just forget about the quality of the first one and you will enjoy this. Its a good 65% in my book.
