And about 200 Aussie cricketers are officially without a job after the MOU expired. Like most people, I think CA and the ACA have both lost a lot of skin through this. Moronic behaviour from both parties. Ridiculous that they couldn't get a deal done.

Could you please explain in short what is causing this whole issue?

Basically the players want to retain the current revenue share model while CA insist on a new model where they get a share of gross plus a percentage of profits in order to invest less on state cricket and more in grass roots. Neither side has shifted from their original position in spite of it being ibvious no deal was possible without compromise and having 6 months to wrangle something out.

That's pretty sad. I hope they resolve the issue or this could be bad for future of cricket and Aus will be staring at definite Ashes defeat.

England should be fine. 4/42 chasing 331 on a pitch doing a bit, with Amla back in the hutch and no ABDV or FDP - I can't see RSA winning this.....

Just looking back at Dawson's first test. Can't be too many where the first team scores >400 and loses by an innings & runs.

Ah, sorry!
Yeah, that was a drubbing. I see he scored a decent 66 runs in the first innings though (though a duck in the 2nd.)

South Africa played like a team who was missing most of their quality through injuries (AB, faf, Steyn) and lacked the depth to replace them. Credit to England for taking them to the cleaners, particularly given the saffers still have a good bowling attack, but I'm not reading much into this result.
Good that they have Ali in the all rounder No.7 slot and have him as their No.2 spinner. Jennings and Ballance showed some ticker in the second dig in difficult conditions. Great start for Root with 190, Cook's 60 odd in the second was crucial.
For Saffers, I really do think Temba is wasted at 6. Assuming faf's fit they need to drop JP, faf at 3, move Temba up to 4 and see if Amla can find some form at 5. Seeings as that's not likely at least promote Temba to 5.

All the commentators reckon De Kock should be further up the batting order too.

I don't know about de kock going higher. He seems really good at batting with the tail and is a dasher to boot. I think he would fare worse higher. Bavuma is a grinder/ touch player who would be better off coming in at 4 when he can set ip an innings rather than trying to rescue it.
De cock's the type of guy who can come in at 5-120 smash a run-a-ball hundred and drag you to a decent total. Bavuma's a guy who can come in at 4-80 odd, score 50 off about 100 balls and then get out trying to force the pace running out of partners. Temba needs a higher spot so he has the oportunity to construct an innings.

Ervine hauling ass against Sri Lanka. Nearing 150 as I type. 8-338.for the Zimmers.
Saffers lost an early wicket, but steadied through Amla and Kuhn before tain intervened.

Some big news If Indian women beat England, millions of dollars will come into women's cricket. I wish India wins for many women to make big from the game. Zimbabwe were awesome against SL but had a heartbreaking loss on the final day. Still they won the ODI thing hoskotafe3Any recent development in Australian cricket and is the problem going to be resolved soon?

Stalled again. You'd have to expect right now that Bangladesh is a write off (which is a great shame) and for the first time, with England demanding an MoU rather than just an agreement, I'm seeing a serious risk of no Ashes.
At the risk of being unpopular, I've always thought CA had the better pay option of the two parties. That's not to say their model is perfect, or even good, but they were right in contending the revenue share had run its course. They are a business that lost money last year and only scraped into profit the year before, and only higher BBL rights to push their revenue up going forward. With Nine already paying more for the Internationals than they are worth, I think CA are close to the ceiling in what they can ever ask for on rights. They have done a poor job prosecuting their case in the media, but I don't think the public is particularly enamoured with people bringing in 200K a year whining about being stiffed by their bosses.
Any sympathy I had for the players is well and truly spent and my sympathy for the admins is waning. They need to get this done or the International game will take a massive blow from which it may take years to recover.

Congrats England!
That was pretty heartbreaking defeat for Indians. But hope this will mean a lot for women's cricket future. Great match. so gripping.
