But, on a positive note, I find I have more time to actually watch films nowadays.

I have it blocked, in case I accidentally click a link to the site. how do you do that? I can't stand searching for something and having pintrest come up. I can't stand that site! it won't let non-pintrest followers even view!

I agree. I still go to it to find filmmakers and see their filmographies, but there's nothing keeping me there more than just a few minutes. I used to go to the site every day, sometimes just to browse the message boards, but not any longer. I go there about twice a week now. I went there the other day and was reminded that I used to keep track of the movies I wanted to see. You're right that it's boring now.
Plus, the message boards provided a key feature to the site where a user could ask other users about a specific part of the movie. Whereas reviews provide a good reception history of a film, the message boards provided a guide to a film's interpretation. Without the boards, the site is a pale version of what it was.

I can't stand that site! it won't let non-pintrest followers even view! It's a google chrome extension called block site. It doesn't stop links from coming up. Just when I accidentally click on a link, it brings up a blocked site web page and scolds me for my transgression, lol.

I agree. There's not as much reason to go there now. Exactly. Before message boards closed down I went to IMDb almost every day. Since they closed I have been there only two or three times. The times I went to it was only to find out the names of some actresses I had seen in movies. Did not even have to log on to find out their names. Got to wonder if they regret closing them down and are just to stubborn to admit it?

You still go there? I haven't been there since the day they shut down the boards. Well, I once accidentally clicked a link that took me there. But I avoid it.

I go to look up some cast lists and see the daily brief. But rarely.

why they closed them is still a big mystery
there are rumors it had to do with censoring certain kind of speech (negative comments for certain movies, actors, the political views of certain people on the politics board) Considering IMDB is owned by Amazon, it could be the reason.

I agree. I miss seeing all the sections for the movies and TV shows too and while I enjoy this forum even more than the original IMDB Boards 'cause there are far less trolls and bullies on it thanks to the Admin I miss the individual boards especially for superhero TV shows which I wrote on a lot when I was on the IMDB boards. Me too.

You don't use it to keep track of what you've seen? you don't know what movies you've seen? I use IMDb to rate and keep track of what i have seen. without it, while i could remember a large chunk of what i have seen i suspect, i could not recall everything i have rated. like if someone mentioned a random movie and i had to answer a simple 'Yes' or "No' in regard to whether i seen the movie or not i would imagine some i would get wrong as after a certain point some movies just tend to be truly forgettable and you could not even remember if you have seen a movie or not.
