It's one of my favourite movies. I also remember it was one of the first movies I saw Doris Day in, and just fell in love with her. From that point on, I began watching more of her movies, reading books about her and by her, and just wanted to find out more.
You'd never know she was having a lick of trouble the way she conducted herself (for the most part).
While she pretty much (with few exceptions) played the same character, I always find her such a joy to watch. I believe she's a treasure.

I have a hard time watching Rock Hudson movies knowing he was gay--As a kid, I loved seeing his movies on TV, like his three movies with Doris Day, and also Man's Favorite Sport(1964)--Pretty Maids All In A Row(1971) etc---Send Me No Flowers(1964) is creepy now, since he died so horribly from AIDS just 20 years later

And how wonderful that his friends, Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor, stood by him. I see him in those films, and I think of the courage of the man, not that he was gay, and not that he died in such a terrible way. I'm moved by the fact that he was able to survive living in a world at a time that didn't tolerate gay people and, later, by his bravery in dealing with his disease, which ignited compassionate concern about the AIDS epidemic. That's a profound legacy.

I think that anything with Doris Day in it is pure gold. Every movie she's in (except that one where she was a battered stage singer), well they all make me smile, make me happy, make me yearn for simpler times. She's so wholesome and fresh. Her music, that voice, she's a powerhouse. She always looked so perfect, and so bubbly. You could hear her exude pure joy.
Her shelter in Carmel amazed me. The work with animal welfare....again, just a pure dynamo.

Doris Day is a fantastic, underestimated actress. While she may ultimately be remembered for her 'fluffy', wholesome movies and tv-shows, she should also be recognized for her dramatic roles in The Man who Knew too much, and Love me or Leave me.
And Ms. Day was not afraid to show some skin either.

Among the things for which Pillow Talk is most noteworthy is the first fully-fledged big-screen opportunity it provided for Rock Hudson to display his comedy chops. Although he'd demonstrated a naturally light and deft touch with his I Love Lucy guest shot four years earlier, he'd remained stuck for most of the '50s in overwrought drama.
It was no small accomplishment to hold his own among skilled comedy players such as Tony Randall, Thelma Ritter and Allen Jenkins, but Pillow Talk proved Hudson had the goods, and it launched him into a successful and satisfying second chapter as a leading man in more such films with Day, along with others featuring the likes of Gina Lollobrigida, Paula Prentiss and Leslie Caron.
Indeed, before the '60s were out, he had become so associated with comedy that he was at pains to reestablish his dramatic cred with heavier fare such as Seconds, but my personal feeling has always been that beginning with Pillow Talk, he found his forte.

Doris Day, wholesome old-fashioned and virgin! I actually like Doris when she steps out of her comfort zone. In movies like Storm Warning, Julie, The Man who Knew too Much, and Midnight Lace. The latest Doris I've seen was Teacher's Pet, and it actually get's funnier with each viewing. As for Pillow Talk, my fav scene is later in the movie when she has re-decorated totally overdone, Rock's pad appartment (I can imagine that myself if a decorator had done my appartment makeover in total tastelessness)

I don't think I've ever seen a movie with Doris Day in it that I didn't like. However, that being said, I'm particularly fond of her classic comedy films. I like the wholesome characters she plays, her comedic timing, her physical abilities, that darling smile, her beautiful voice, her screen presence,...
But, I do seem to have a difficult time accepting her more "serious" dramatic roles because I've been conditioned to see her as a comedienne. It is out of 'her' comfort zone, but as a viewer it's definitely out of my comfort zone too. Difficult to watch.

Some nice thoughts on screen legend Doris Day, thanks for sharing. Her friend and neighbour Clint Eastwood always loved to sing her praises! She's my sister's favourite lol.
