Didn't see the trailer but looking at the poster gave me a little bit of cringe and eye rolling (ugh, Hollywood sappiness). I went because I love Jake Gyllenhaal and...
This really does buck the standard biopic trend of fall-rise, and the lead character being only defined by what they lost and regaining that.
This felt real with three dimensional characters. Non-exploitative. And I love David Gordon Green's approach to this. It's not a cinematic masterpiece technically speaking, but little things like putting focus on the agony in Bauman/Erin's face while blurring the stumps out of focus does a lot.
Jake G is stellar as always, and I didn't know much about Tatiana Maslany but they clicked well together and brought so much legitimate emotion.
I hope it gets awards season love. I really do.

I can see him getting a lot of love from awards ceremonies.
