Bat -
Thanks for posting the pictures of Julie.
She said that the pictures of her and Bette were taken on the last day of her filming and Bette was very nice to her. And she did get to keep one the look alike dolls.
I did try to get IMDb to correct the phony bio info to no success.

teleadmDid you notice that the IMDb page says she only made one movie (they make quite a point of it) and then Two for the Seesaw is also listed.

Been there ! What a hassle and they still keep the incorrect stuff. Plus: Had an uncle who was an extra. IMDb refused to accept any information on him and the rest of his family is either dead or not interested. Took months to get them to post a picture and leave it there.

I have a feeling that there was someone who claimed to be Julie that has the IMDb bio info. Some of the trivia is correct, including the L.B. Poly High info. I knew Julie at the time she made the movie up to 1979, when I saw her with her small children in church. Julie attended Lafayette Elementary and Washington Junior High, which also had Van Heflin as an attendee, back in the 1920's.
I have several pictures of our dance class. I was the tallest one in the class and often danced with Julie's brothers Doug and Mike, who were brought in to supplement the male population, as finding 9-12 year old boys wanting to take ballroom dancing was difficult.

Here's an unusual one: Robert Paige, modestly handsome second-tier leading man at Universal in the '40s in such films as Son Of Dracula... ...and Can't Help Singing (with Deanna Durbin, left)... ...who, going freelance after the war and appearing in films like Split Second and in TV roles, then became a game show host (The Big Payoff, 1951-58) and then a newscaster for KABC-TV Los Angeles (1966-70). Following that, he went to work for the L.A. County Supervisors' Office and then into public relations.

Hi, not trying to defend IMDb here, or disparage your uncle's career as an extra, but if he only did non-speaking, non-credited background roles then IMDb won't give him a listing. It's actually understandable as you can imagine the sheer number of people who have been background extras who would then want a listing of their own. If a background extra ends up getting a speaking role, or credited role, then they can get a bio page added and include their background roles in their IMDb resume. I was a background player for a couple of years in the late 1990s, no speaking roles or credited parts, and though I would love to have a bio page on IMDb (who wouldn't!) I completely understand why they don't allow this.

detourUncle-Extra DID have a speaking role. One role. He was listed as a cast member in the film. I did get a page made with some general information on it and links to and from the film. The problem was that they would not allow an image to transfer from the FILM page to the PERSONAL page and only Uncle-Extra or his representative could post it there via IMDb-Pro. They would post a picture and then delete it with no why or wherefore. Uncle-E is now dead. His immediate family could not care less about IMDb. I just thought that it was so cool that he had a page and wanted to make it as nice as I could. They will also not accept birth, death, relatives info unless it can be authenticated via documents... must be a new policy, seeing all the totally wrong info that is posted (as evidenced by Baby Jane)

Thanks, Bat. Any chance you want to share the link to your uncle's IMDb page?
As for IMDb, I am a minor contributor and usually get my requests added/fixed/whatever. But I agree that IMDb can be frustrating sometimes when one wants to add or correct information on an individual.

detourAll sorts of "stuff" can be added to the film pages (mostly multiple images of dvd packaging ) but they don't allow contributions to individual actor pages except by Pro subscribers.. They have removed the image on Unc's page AGAIN and there is basically nothing there any more.

How very frustrating. I have added actors to IMDb in the past, it's been a while, I wonder if things have changed since then?

I met cinematographer Haskell Wexler at a party and in the discussion, he said that IMDb had his birth year wrong (listed as 1926 instead of 1922) and he asked if I could correct it. I tried but IMDb wouldn't let me. It finally got corrected when he died and the obit had the correct date.
I have also heard that they don't know what year Van Heflin was born, but I did find his graduation photo in the 1928 yearbook.

Yvonne Lime (Yvonne Fedderson now), who starred in the 1957 film I Was a Teenage Werewolf among other things, has devoted her post-acting career to her non-profit child abuse prevention charity organization Childhelp. She co-founded it in 1959 with Sara O'Meara, but continued to act until 1968. Together, they have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize five times in total. It's admirable that she was willing to give up on show business and thus step out of the limelight (no pun intended) to focus on such a good cause. You can find their official website here.

Andrea Dromm Only two movies, in one of which she was the main character. The other was a Cold War spoof in which she was a secondary character. I think she could have easily had a much longer career in the business, but for some reason she walked away from it on her own. Good for her.

Gary Grimes (Summer of 42, The Culpepper Cattle Co, The Spikes Gang).
I think he simply retired in the late seventies - when he was about 26).
