I think you go back to being who you really are, now that your character has been killed off.

As I have paid my town taxes, just place my body in a hefty bag and let the town take care of my remains.

After you die? You go to Capri. The person who gets that reference has my undying respect.

? I have not asked this here question before. That's just Maya's sense of humor. Someone posted a similar thread several days ago.

I think you cease to exist, and your body rots and is ultimately recycled by nature.

I believe in the Judaeo-Christian God of Abraham and Heaven.
However, if I didn't believe in that, I'd probably believe in reincarnation.
Matter cannot be created or destroyed, it's just recycled/reused. So it makes sense that you would come back as another human being with a different conscious. It's weird when 4 year olds can talk about being a pilot in WWII and tell you all about their aircraft, adults research it, and it's all true.
Then you can summarize that kids are closer to their past conscious because they haven't gained enough new memories in their new life/brain. Therefore the older you get the more you forget. IDK.

Matter cannot be created or destroyed, it's just recycled/reused. Actually it can be, when it is transformed to and from energy. Setting that aside, however, the matter that is recycled is generally recycled into something very different, not more of the same. No, it really doesn't. Nature recycles the atoms of your body by having animals or microorganisms eat them. They don't get recycled into another human being - they get recycled into animals or microorganisms. Or they get defecated out and absorbed into the ground and turned into plants. The atoms might possibly end up being part of another human body... if a pregnant woman ate them and her body used them to construct the fetus she was growing. It's rather like saying that if I set fire to a painting, it makes sense to think that the ashes and smoke will necessarily form another painting. Nature's recycling of matter just doesn't work that way. And there's no reason to think consciousness is recycled at all or that it could be. That would be weird, if it happened. Is there any proof that it happened?

Cessation of consciousness and oblivion. And when you really think about it sensibly, that's probably the very best thing that could happen.

I think you go back to being who you really are, now that your character has been killed off. Good one. Or it might be like wearing virtual reality goggles then taking them off.
