I liked this movie. Probably my favorite after Pi, though I haven't seen probably more than half DA's movies.
I related to the protagonist, however, my demographic is so different from that of her. I am a middle aged single male, and a minority. My relation was more abstract. On that notion, it may be safe to say many people have felt like her.
Do you think this movie had any sort of sociopolitical statement or was it more general than that? Or not even, just a crazy story DA wanted to tell?

The mother earth motif seemed fairly strong. Perhaps it is greedy of me to apply it to my own bothers.

I saw the second half as defintely being a statement about society and how society feeds off of itself in very negative ways and I got a strong feeling that Aronofsky doesn't think the human race will survive much longer.
