It's ... my Grandpa!
No, not the elderly guy with the hat -- the fella next to him. At least that's what my mum told us. He passed away when I was very young (yes, I was young once) and by then lived far away, so I never got to know him well.
I once met and talked with Dana Andrews after a special showing of BEST YEARS, and mentioned the brief family connection. No, Dana didn't recall him (he said along with that familiar wry chuckle), but spoke fondly about the making of that film.

Sorry about the false start; I've been working with computers of one sort or another for 35 years and still don't know how they operate. Maybe I forgot to feed the hamsters last night. So I suppose it's too much to hope that the freshly-scrubbed-lookin' chick next to him became Mrs. Grandpa, huh? |
