Someone even called it better than the original, 2017 so far is the year for blockbusters! And to anyone who had doubts, I hope this movie will show that Dennis Villeneuve is one of the best directors in a very long time.
"#BladeRunner2049 is a rare sequel that actually improves on the original. Great Performances & Visually Breathtaking. Villeneuve nails it."

I had reservations about this movie and didn't think it was necessary. Will gladly eat crow if it's as good as they're saying.

I'm just hoping I will get to see it before my local drive-in closes for the season which I believe will be the end of October ( it closed last year around that time ) . Thanks so much salomonj for these updates of this film and your subject post .

SOOOOOO excited to hear good news about this movie. As much as I enjoy Star Wars, its just fluff. Movies like this one are true Sci-Fi, which I want to see more of in cinema.
Keep up the good work Villeneuve. Next up: DUNE!!!

Holy shit. I can't wait now.
Gosling has really hit his stride in recent years. Villeneuve is a master. It has Harrison Ford in what appears to be a coherent role. Roger Deakins is the cinematographer. It's a mystery. Every reaction says it's practically a masterpiece.
That's a formula for a great movie. I am really craving a good mystery right now, too.

A critic on Twitter said the embargo has been moved to Friday (tomorrow) because of the early reactions! People on Blurayforum also confirmed it.
Edit:
And two extra early reactions: "I'm so completely staggered by Blade Runner 2049 that it's just taken me seven separate attempts to put my coat on afterwards." - The Telegraph "Blade Runner 2049 really is next-level staggering. I'm still processing how good it is." - The Guardian

Wow, those are some impressive reviews. It's at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 8.9/10! The only rotten review is from Scott Mendelson from Forbes (5/10) who said: "It looks great and boasts solid performances from an underused cast, but (like the original) it's a triumph of style over substance." So apparently he just doesn't like the Blade Runner world. Without his review (not that his opinion doesn't count or is worth less than other people's opinion) the average rating would be 9.1.
