NSW, QLD & WA or SA get their holiday (called something else) on Monday. What about today? I got another holiday from work as it is Melbourne Cup. Wow I am so happy that I don't have to go to work today. So is it an official public holiday or they just give you leave? Last I heard, Public Holiday in metro Melbourne only. For us Sydney slobs - normal day with a big race on it.

I have long been thinking about moving to Sydney as there are considerably more opportunities in Sydney as compared to Melbourne in accounting and finance industry but there are many advantages of living in Melbourne too. Melbourne has been voted the most liveable city in the world and (not just Australia) for past many years. There is no match for Melbourne in terms of diverse sporting event it offers. Still might move to Sydney after June next year but I will miss these sport holidays.
