I was surprised to find certain reality shows are still going in the U.S., i.e. Big Brother & Idol - these shows have long since died in my country. Hell, there's probably even more reality still going that I figured would be gone by now.

I was surprised to find certain reality shows are still going in the U.S., i.e. Big Brother & Idol - these shows have long since died in my country. Hell, there's probably even more reality still going that I figured would be gone by now. Survivor is another one. They struggle to come up with novelties each season. This season the tribes are Heroes, Healers, Hustlers, only many people don't fit their category. No one seems that interesting so far. |

America's Funniest Home Videos--do people actually still watch this? I'd assumed (and hoped) that with the rise of YouTube, this celebration of child abuse, animal abuse, and other assorted cruelties and dangerous stunts caught on video
would have been rendered obsolete by now. Is there still a pressing need for families to gather 'round the set on a Sunday evening just to see a toddler smack his dad in the crotch with a plastic bat while an obnoxious host makes lame wisecracks?

srsly, I thought that painful show died a long time ago.
opposite... I thought MOM just started but nope, they just started airing the episodes on tv land. that show has been around for years and although I like both head actresses, I dislike them together and the show.

CSI You should be glad to know CSI is over, has been for about 2 years now. Veep will be in its last season next year with 7th. I do agree with Law & Order thought it was long gone. I think it actually is the original main mamma show the spin-offs are still going strong. Big Brother America's Funniest Home Videos This Old House Cops - thought they stopped ages ago and just re-ran old episodes |

Some of these kind of made me laugh. All of you are on a board for tv, yet you're naming some of the top 20 shows. I get if you don't watch said programs, but to think they were cancelled....
Law & Order has been gone for several years. L & O SVU is still on. American Idol was cancelled(FOX) last year, but as most...some know was picked up by ABC. So FOX decided to do it's own new version. As long as reality series survive in other countries, most of ours will too(I did say most, not all). Big Brother US will now have it's own celebrity version.

ER and Dallas had to end sometime. Some of the most popular shows also have a tendency to be the most annoying and embarrassing, especially right now. The Middle and The Big Bang Theory are two of the most annoying for me, yet the country eats this embarrassing stuff up. I like cleverly written shows, not shows that showcase how stupid you are and how "smart" they are. |

Especially some with their endless promos. As for liking what might be embarrassing-for some it's just a case of wanting to get away for a little bit from the world we live in. Grey's Anatomy still trudges along, even though everyone Dr. Grey has ever loved has died or left town. Private Practice, the spinoff, was always better, it only ended because Kate Walsh quit to do some lame sitcom that got canned right out of the gate. I'm currently about five seasons behind or so now on Netflix and not too stressed about getting caught up.

"The Simpsons"
It was ahead of it's time in 1989, just right between 1995-2001, and now it's outdated and past it's prime.
All it is now is a satirical cartoon about our society. It used to be a funny show about life and raised a lot of good questions infused with humor. Now, I swear they just aired a "Game of Thrones" satire.
They literally say "Oh, this show is popular now" and do a "Simpsons" version of it.
