Must say yesterday (Feb 17) had some interesting cases.
First up was the handsome hot guy who sold his ATV to a 19 year old idiot, who didn't know what an oil change was so he wanted to return the ATV and get his money back. His witness was a blond stud named Noah. I would have taken Noah for a spin on the ATV, with the original owner, too.
Then there was the case of the woman suing the owner of a Wig shop and her stylist. After a few tries, her wig was just not right, so she was suing for $650+ returned to her. The owner, who's name was something 'Walker' had a Donna Summer 1982 wig on which made her look atrocious. She still wanted to make her happy even though four months went by and she still couldn't do it right. Money was returned.
And then there was the ex-mother-in-law who was suing her former son-in-law for a $3,000 loan or gift. According to her, she got the money back in May from her fiance, who was present. Fiance got up and told JJ he got the money from his savings account - yet Judge Judy never asked him to 'show her' where the withdrawal was from May. When she asked the woman what she did for a living, the woman said she was on disability, and that she used to be a housekeeper for 30 years. Her son-in-law said she was a professional gambler. JJ asked if this was true, and the woman acknowledged she went to the casino almost every day, but she wasn't a professional gambler....as a matter of fact she usually lost. Of course, that was enough to satisfy JJ and the money was returned to her. WTH?
Of course, JJ's reasoning is that no one asks someone else 'Hi, how are you - do you need money today?' and offer it as a gift. She says no one can know if you are hurting financially unless you tell them.
Not true...
I have a very good friend who is a bartender. He budgets his money very carefully, and sometimes when I ask him to meet for dinner at a nice restaurant, he'll pass and simply say 'Not this week. Next week would be better for me'. Now he's not telling me why - certainly not telling me he doesn't have the extra money to spend - just that this week isn't good, and next week is better. To which, I will say 'How about if I pick up the tab this week and you can grab it next time?" If he says yes* - it means he's not doing well that week / month. When we go out to dinner I always say "If you need money this week to pay some bills, just let me know and I can lend it to you." He hates to say yes, but he knows I'm not embarrassing him - so he accepts (and always pays back). So he never mentions his finances at dinner, I bring it up and I offer him a loan. For some reason, JJ has never experienced that or knows anyone who does that. (*If he declines my paying for the bill it means something is probably going on with his girlfriend, and she doesn't want him out with friends, etc.) So JJ is wrong again.

?) Glasglow was in court suing over a wig. She was suing Poodle Haired, Tito Jackson wanna-be Toika Troutman and her stripper looking friend Kalin Spooner. Troutman and Spooner were adamant that they had to reconstruct the wig in order to appease Abademi Glasglow. Abademi was also pissed that she didn't get measurements of her head.
