Service, Goldeneye, Casino Royale and Skyfall the only good Bond movies?
every other movie seems to have reviews disparaging them as the "Worst Bond ever"

Don't believe everything people say. I think Diamonds Are Forever is a really fun, entertaining movie, but many think it's the worst Bond movie ever.
You might try You Only Live Twice and Thunderball. Those are good Sean Connery-Bond movies I haven't heard too much hate for.
The early Roger Moore ones are fun too: Live and Let Die, Moonraker, The Spy Who Loved Me. Even The Man With the Golden Gun and Octopussy are fun, as long as you don't take them too seriously (see Diamonds Are Forever).

The Spy Who Loved Me is among the best of the Bond films.
Roger Moore was excellent in the earlier films of his.

every other movie seems to have reviews disparaging them as the "Worst Bond ever" All of Connery's Bond films are good except for Diamonds Are Forever, and From Russia With Love is kind of grim, and has some boring parts.--All of Roger Moore's Bond films are good except for Live and Let Die(his worst) and A View To A Kill(mediocre)---All of Pierce Brosnan's Bond films are good--Both Timothy Dalton Bond films are mediocre---btw,I don't like any of Daniel Craig's Bond films

There's no such thing as bad James Bond movie (yet)(and I'm only talking about official James Bond movies). The Daniel Craig movies are the least good because they don't have most of the stuff that makes Bond movies great and unique.

The only 'good' Daniel Craig Bond (IMHO) is "Casnio Royale"
He is rough around the edges because it's supposed to be an origin Bond movie. So I can excuse the less 'classy' Bond. He still has some of the tropes that makes him Bond. He's elegant, sophisticated, he worries about his drink at the poker table, the cut of his suit, he charms lots of women, but he isn't 'quite there' yet.
I assumed the Craig Bonds were a journey where he'd eventually become traditional Bond. However, he's lost more and more tropes to the point where he is more like a Brit Jason Bourne.

thegrappler Well, obviously you're gonna get all kinds of differing opinions--so here's mine! I'm not a fan of Goldeneye or Skyfall, though this last was better than the unbearable Spectre. Those certainly would not make my list (and, again, this is all subjective--I advise that you watch these movies for yourself and then decide). I'd say these are the cream of the crop for Bond movies: From Russia, with Love (a superb little film, even for non-Bond fans, with grand Hitchcockian direction, a great deal of wit, action, suspense, and sheer adventure, the best villains, the most beautiful girl... The best of the Bonds) Goldfinger (not at all to be taken seriously [unlike From Russia, with Love and Dr. No], but great fun. Well-filmed and fast-paced) Casino Royale (the only Craig film that will last for posterity, in my opinion. Beautifully directed, impeccably paced, with equal attention to plot and character. Masterly) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (a fine film, in spire of pacing problems, with more detail to character. The problem is George Lazenby, who--while not bad, certainly--is a bit stiff in the role, not as witty or charming as Connery, and certainly doesn't approach the character with Sean's insouciance or "louche panache." Still, very strong) Dr. No (very good, though everyone's new to it) Octopussy (as wacky as Goldfinger, and as light as a soufflé--there are some weaker parts here, but for the most part a sheer wild adventure as only George MacDonald Fraser could have written) There are certainly other very strong Bonds-- For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball, certainly Licence to Kill, and even (though this is an idiosyncratic choice) the wacky, non-Eon '67 Casino Royale--but I happen to think those listed are the strongest.

I have the Bond 50 set which I got for only 60 bucks. My favorite themes are: Skyfall You Know My Name Live and Let Die The Living Daylights Goldfinger I've also found I like Writings on the Wall...when it's not being sung by Sam Smith. Seriously, the production is great, but his whiny gibberish vocals kill it. The covers on YouTube are way better.

That's really excellent moviebuffbrad it seems you can also have a 007 Bond movie marathon anytime you want also . Also an awesome selection of 007 theme songs here too . Surprisingly with the newer Bond films I only got as far as the film Quantum of Solace from 2008 , saw it at the cinema when it first was out but really only saw it once , and missed the first 10 minutes of the film too . After that I lost touch with the newer film storylines perhaps one of these fine days I will give these other newer films another go ( Daniel Craig was another great choice for James Bond too - IMPO ) . Thanks so much moviebuffbrad fo ryour reply .

Are the first four Connery movies, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Goldeneye, Casino Royale and Skyfall the only good Bond movies?
every other movie seems to have reviews disparaging them as the "Worst Bond ever" I would add to your list: - The other two Craig films - THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987) and LICENCE TO KILL (1989) - THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (the best "Comic Book" Bond) - GOLDENEYE

That's the exact same 007 Bond DVD Box set I have too taylorfirst1 . Surprisingly the only film not in that collection was - Never Say Never Again (1983) which was a good one too IMPO and I believe it was actor Sean Connery's very last 007 Bond film as well . Thanks so much taylorfirst1 for your reply .

mszanaduNever Say Never Again wasn't an official James Bond movie. It was made by a different production company and did not have the rights to many of the key items from the official Bond movies. You'll notice it doesn't have the iconic Bond music nor does it start with the gun barrel point of view opening sequence.

You'll notice it doesn't have the iconic Bond music nor does it start with the gun barrel point of view opening sequence. It's such a strange little film, isn't it? There are so many good actors--Connery, of course (better than he was in Diamonds Are Forever); Max von Sydow; Edward Fox; Rowan Atkinson; and two very lovely Bond girls, Kim Basinger and Barbara Carrera--and some good general ideas. Heck, I even like the concept of "aging Bond," which was supposed to be the point of the '67 Casino Royale before it went nuts. Yet I think the movie as a whole is terrible, and for long stretches terribly boring. The video game Bond plays must be one of the most embarrassing Bond sequences of them all, far worse than anything in the aforementioned Casino Royale spoof.
