I could care less if his little gay behind frolics around like a fairy princess and kisses Gaston. He's a minor character and if I were gay, I'd be offended that the first Gay Disney character was him.
However, middle America, done. Disney is so stupid. Like 65% or more of their revenue comes from Suburban/Christian families. These same Trump voting gun toting Bible thumping people will now boycott this film. Let's say HALF don't go and don't want to "expose" their kids to a gay character and explain to them why LeFou (French for the fool) wants to poke Gaston... That's millions.
I'm not being a close minded bigot, I'm being honest. I know at least 3 families personally who aren't going to see this now. That's 2 parents, 3 kids, maybe friends, and no repeat viewings. Frozen made 1B because families took their kids 10x... A majority of Disney's fanbase is Christian families looking for Family Friendly films. I cannot believe how DUMB Disney can be here.
Not to mention World Wide. Places like China and other Asian countries don't tolorate gay people. We're not taking about a difference of a few Million, no, we're taking about possibly making 1.75B WW, and now maybe 850M world wide. Losing nearly a billion, for what? To make 3% of the United States happy?

You're nuts if you don't think Disney is going to make huge amounts of money on this.
That said, I don't really understand what will need to be explained to a kid. If they can work out why a man would be interested in a woman then they can use the same logic for a man and a man.
Also let's entertain that Disney will lose money, and that they have thought of this. If the biggest movie company in the world can't take a chance on forwarding people perception of something they might not understand, then who can?

Are you serious? They actually included a gay character in this? A Disney movie? Wow, when I thought Hollywood couldn't pander to the left wing scum any more than they already do.

Take the 'gay' risk on another property... This one has the potential to be in the 2B club. Not now. And no I'm not nuts, I live among middle America, I know. Evangelical Christians (a huge Disney Fanbase) will not see this now, and more importantly, no repeat viewing. Plus, why make "The Fool" LeFou the gay guy? That's insulting to gay people...

I hope this tanks like Ghostbusters 2016. Kids entertainment is not the place for children to learn about alternative lifestyles. This is clearly an aggressive attempt at indoctrination and should be protested heavily.

Agreed 100% I always thought of LeFou like that guy from "Enchanted" or sort of like Louis Tully in Ghostbusters II... He worshipped the Ghostbusters but he was like an annoying sidekick. He wasn't in love with Peter Venkman...

That might explain why Victor Salva and Bryan Singer are listed as producers.

True, it's actually a mental disorder with no cure, but I was trying to be nice.

Well you're wrong on both points.
- It will be a financially successful movie, and if it isn't, one gay character will not be the reason why. The so called "anti-gay Christian masses" is a liberal media boogyman, inflating their influence to absurd degrees. The vast majority of successful movies and TV shows today do not align with conservative values, yet conservatives pay for them anyway.
- Disagreement does not make one a "close minded bigot." The argument of "well hey, it's just one character, relax" holds 0 water, because obviously what people are complaining about is not one specific fantasy make-belief character, but the tidal wave, not just an agenda, but a tidal wave of liberal ideology that is infused in the vast majority of media today, making everything political and diminishing art itself.

Le edgy contrarian that champions free speech, that's you johnspartan? Then let movies have gay characters and stop being so triggered.

I don't think it will make a lot of difference little girls and boys will want to see it and so will the little boys and girls who adored the others? Do you honestly think any gay scenes will be blatantly obvious in a Disney film?? They have been making big bucks on films for years I can imagine they know a thing or two. Also your forgetting the added Harry Potter fans that might not have watched it if Emma Watson wasn't in it. Also I think mostly girls/women will be the main audience (don't wanna sound sexist) but I think it will and I don't know if you have noticed or not most girls/women love gays.

The problem is that blatantly gay scenes should not be in KIDS movies. I don't have a problem with it in adult entertainment. Why is it so impossible for your kind to differentiate between the two?

He was already gay in the animated version. It just wasn't explicitly stated.

He was already gay in the animated version. It just wasn't explicitly stated. I thought of him more like a low self esteem, low self worth, pathetic loser who sees Gaston as the perfect man and wishes he was him. So he befriends him and basically becomes his servant/henchmen in order to be his right hand man. I never thought of the animated LeFou as gay.

I believe writing should always come first when making decisions regarding characters. However, if people keep reacting in this manner, then I can't wait for that Elsa lesbian romance to come true.
