Silly premise but enjoyable enough, with a very memorable kill.
6/10

Another 80s horror/sci-fi movie I might add to my to-re-watch later this month. I remember enjoying it, not great but entertaining and it had Kristy Swanson, so that alone makes it a pleasant adventure.

Nice that this one was mentioned. I have always liked this amusing and nifty little horror flick from Wes Craven. It still manages to have a disturbing sub-plot running through it's thread about the child abuse Sam was subjected to by her father, even though most of the horror is moderate. It does have a few interesting and dare I say even original scenes of graphic violence. The atmosphere is fine and the performances are pretty good too, with a bit of suspense thrown into the mix. When this was first released, a friend and I would go around mimicing BB's voice. I have this on dvd, and there are a couple of extended scenes of violence in it, which is nice. However, it does make Elvira's death appear more cheesy and phony looking.

Wow, haven't seen this one since the 80s but I do remember enjoying it. Think it's time for a re-visit.

I like it. Have it. Wes Craven said the movie was messed with by the Suits. He wanted to focus more on the love story. That the adults were the real monsters. Despite that I dig it.

Add me to the list of those who like it. It could have been so much better, but Swanson really goes all in on her robot impersonation, and I really appreciate that dedication.

That Basketball to the head was one of the first Horror kills i ever watched as a kid, and while laughable today it really freaked me out back then

I had the novel yrs ago but loaned it out and never got it back. I however, didn't get to read it. Apparently, the novel was more focused on the love story aspect. Craven being a horror film icon, I can understand why the studio Warner Bros. wanted him to go along the route of what others expected of him, albeit in a more controlled manner. I think the film works fine as it is, I just can't compare it to the book.

Interesting... Kristy Swanson had a great time filming. She said Wes Craven was very kind and patient with her despite being stressed out during production. What a great expierence it must've been for a new actor...
What a loss with him gone... The greats are slowly leaving us.

Anne Ramsey was getting all the meaty roles back in the 80's!
