www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fans-snub-rangers-vs-celtic-11275432Latest figures show huge drop in viewers. The famous fixture features way outside Sky’s top five most-watched matches from that week. The latest TV viewing figures for one of the world’s most famous derbies reveal armchair fans have switched off en masse. Official figures show only 85,000 people watched Celtic beat Rangers last month at Ibrox on Sky Sports Football, a huge drop on previous numbers. The stats look better when the other Sky channel is factored in – but not by much. The game was also shown on Sky Sports Main Event – with 190,000 watching the game on that channel. However, the total number of 275,000 is still well down on previous derbies. The game – which unlike previous seasons – wasn’t up against an English Premier League clash but featured way down in eighth on the Sky Sports Football table for that week, according to stats from BARB. .........

Why does the article present 85,000 as the headline figure even though well over twice as many people watched it on another channel?
The game also was in fact up against a Premier League match, much of it was at the same time as West Ham against Spurs.
Pathetic journalism.
It's a drop from 321k last season - for the first League Old Firm game for many years when Rangers' ability was unknown to most viewers - to 275k this season when it's been clearly established how superior Celtic are. A 15% drop in those circumstances is nothing.
