It's definitely right up there at the top and based on trailers, looks like the sequel might rival it.

Road to Perdition (2002) is my 'go to' movie when i think great cinematography because, as like i have said before, not only does it look great but some of it's best moments visually also happen to be great moments in the movie to. like two examples come to mind... A)the scene where Tom Hanks kills Paul Newman in the rain at night with the tommy gun. B)the end scene where Jude Law shoots Tom Hanks in the back and proceeds to take his picture. ...and what further ads to the movies greatness is the movies score. it all just clicks very well and makes it only one of nine movies i score a 10/10 out of the 2,125+ total movies i have seen. movies like that are next to non-existent. one word sums up this movie... masterpiece (a word i rarely fling around). p.s. for the record... Blade Runner is solid visually but i would never seriously consider it for a topic like this simple because it's a boring movie. but basically... while there is quite a few movies to choose from, purely from a visual standpoint, when i look at the movies themselves that really narrows the field to a really limited amount of movies as there are not too many movies amongst My Favorite Movies that stand out from a visual standpoint as only a small amount of my 7/10's through 10/10's do as, without taking a rough count, i can't imagine there is more than ten movies or so that have a solid atmosphere/visual style/cinematography that stands out out of My Favorite Movies (i.e. my Top 196 movies).

One of them. A film I always thought looked amazing is Luc Besson's Angel A. There's also a couple of Pressburger/Powell films that would be in the running

sostie Agreed. it's got solid visuals and i think it's a fairly unique movie. in fact, for a movie that has no name leads they actually worked quite well together on screen and i like that scene in the mirror as that immediately comes to mind as a solid moment in the movie. it's got to be my #1 movie quite easily in terms of movies with that have unknown actors/actresses for the leading roles etc. p.s. in fact, Angel-A (2005) within my Top 26 movies. it's grew stronger for me on repeat viewings as time passes. it's Luc Besson's #1 movie hands down if you ask me (my #2 Besson movie, and the only other one that stands out for me at this point, is... The Big Blue (1988)(7/10)). i used to think Leon/Nikita etc where strong movies but i don't care for either of those two anymore.

I'd definitely say it one of the most beautiful looking B&W films ever.

sostie Yeah, and even just straight up regardless of black and white or color. because like i basically mentioned in my initial post... there are a very limited amount of movies in my opinion that have stronger visuals (like in terms of atmosphere/mood and the like) while being a higher quality movie in general to. Angel-A is one of the small amount that i would personally think is worth listing with visual/movie quality combo. basically looking only at My Favorite Movies there are probably not more than 10 movies or so (without checking) i would list in a topic like this and it's not exclusive to my 10/10 or nothing either as there are some movies that i scored in the 7/10 range i would list.

It is for me. Just watched it again last night (to prep for tonight-- as if I need to, I think the original is permanently on a loop in my head) and it still blows me away every time. The care that was put into every single shot is incredible.
