I'd let the 50 Shades stuff go since I doubt anyone either than E.L James got their way.
I liked Saving Mr. Banks, but idk if that's a good indicator for a Venom movie

Wow those Fifty Shades movies are both a few of the worst movies I have ever seen. I would rather see one of the worst comic book films I've ever seen again - except for 'Fant4stic'. |

Ironically enough, Fifty Shades of Grey and Fant4stic became the first 2 movies to tie for Worst Picture at the Razzies. I’ve only seen ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ - and it was one of the worst films I’ve seen in my entire life. Its even worse than The Mummy (2017). And that is a hard thing (no pun intended) to accomplice. |

Why does this matter?
Screenwriters are screenwriters.
They have both "good" and "bad" screenwriting credits to their names.
As just one example, multiple time Oscar nominee John Logan ( Gladiator, Aviator, Hugo ) also wrote "Star Trek: Nemesis"

It almost happened back in 2014. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ was going to be released on the same day with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ until the former bailed. |
