Just saw it a few day ago. Thought it wsa pretty bad. Could have been better, it has Jennifer Jason Leigh in it and she is very talented. But this was bad. The script was painful. Plus it was not scary, there were two cheap scares but other than that, pretty mediocre on atmosphere.
Anyone else saw it? What did you think?

I guess I will wait till it goes on TV to view it just out of curiosity of course . Actually I wasn't in any big hurry to watch that version film either . Although I also like actress Jennifer Jason Leigh it just didn't seem worth it to me to spend the money at the cinema for it .

How/where did you watch it? it was released in Europe already. I am currently traveling. So I get to see a few films a week before the US. This one sucked though. I gave it 3 out of 10.

I had a bad feeling about it. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I like some of the Amityville Horror movies but since the remake they have appeared to have gone down the same path as the latter 'Children of the Corn' and 'Hellraiser' movies and they need to fire these people and get new writers with fresh ideas. I mean with 'Hellraiser' if they gave the movie rights back to Clive we could get another movie as good as the first four and Clive is trying to get it back 'cause he has all these ideas for new movies but the studio have ruined it and caused Doug Bradley to walk out on it too.

I'll definitely be checking it out once it's available via Netflix.
What did you think of all of the other Amityville films, Nora? The original 8-film series, the remake, etc.?

It's nothing brilliant but it's not a total waste certainly not cinema money worthy

I saw it too and thought it was terrible. No wonder the release kept getting delayed.

Is the movie about the real murder that took place in the house? What was their name Defeo or something like that? I saw a Facebook ad about it and it looked like they claimed the real story was being told. A few years ago I saw someone who wrote a book on the real murders was having the book made into a movie. I remember being excited the real story was finally being told. But never heard more about it. So is this that movie? The book I'm talking about is called High Hopes by Sullivan Aronson. If this is that movie and it's awful then that's a real disappointment. It would be nice for the family to finally have the truth come out. But even Ron who did the killing has changed his story. One interview he said it was his sister Gwen I think is her name did it. He then killed her.So he claims. His interview reminded me of those with Manson. He's crazy! But something awful did happen to him. He was messed up before the murders.

After discovering this from the makers of A Haunting In Connecticut I won't even bother with this movie. They butchered the real story. They based it off a good documentary from the tv series The Haunting. They twisted and turned the whole story around. I hate when movies do that. It takes courage to come forward saying you bought a haunted house. The family said they wouldn't talk about it again and they haven't as far as I know. But after the movie came out their family was trashed again online. I felt bad for them.
I just find it sick people are trying to cash in on real life murders that took place in the 70s.
