I just saw it. Antoine Fuqua did a great job. It's the best western I've seen since "Tombstone."

I thought it was solid on initial viewing but it did not hold up on a re-watch. Fuqua is still a one-hit-wonder for me with Training Day (2001) (10/10).
True Grit (2010) (8/10) is definitely the #1 Western in fairly recent memory. it's much better than the 1969 version which i thought below average.
------------------------------------------------------
My Favorite Westerns in general...
1.Open Range (2003) - 10/10 -.The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) -.Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) -.For a Few Dollars More (1965) 5.True Grit (2010) - 8/10 6.Django Unchained (2012) - 7.5-8/10 7.Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) 8.Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970) 9.The Lone Ranger (2013) - 7/10 10.Tombstone (1993) 11.The Magnificent Seven (1960) 12.Appaloosa (2008) 13.The Salvation (2014-2015) - 6.5-7/10 --.The Hateful Eight (2015)

It was good. Not as good as the original, but still good.
Chris Pratt really dominated among the performers. He carried that movie in most scenes.

Pratt had some good one liners and Vincent Donofrio was great. I try to keep up on classics but I haven't seen the original. I really want to, now. Is it a lot different?

"great" is pushing it a bit, but it definitely seems to be rather underrated. Worth a watch for sure.

It's a solid western. I appreciated that it wasn't dark just to be dark like a lot of western movies do these days.

I dug it. Thought the ensemble of actors were good & the 3rd act has insane action/shoot outs galore . 7.5/10

The original is pretty corny and campy, but it has a great score and an incredible ensemble. But they are very similar in story and plot. I bet you'll like it.
