Why do you think turnout is so low here? Never more than 80-90 members online at any time. Where'd everybody go?

i don't know. it's bizarre. some of the movie and tv boards there were getting thousands of posts a day from all sorts of people. hopefully they didn't get lives.

I think a lot of people just gave up on just went on to other sites. We probably have a lot of lurkers too. I wish we had more people but there are certain people I thought might show up that havent that I am damn happy arent here.

Just be grateful to have a viable alternative.

It might be that not a bunch of people know the site exists or are trying other forums.

Many users of IMDb boards have always been on other established sites. Since they weren't made homeless when IMDb boards closed they aren't looking for a new home either.

A lot migrated to the dedicated boards - simple as
And everywhere else for individual discussion about tv shows/films is pretty much dead

A lot migrated to the dedicated boards - simple as What boards? I couldn't find any with any traffic close to imdb.

TWD, GoT etc Only have to google them Oh, I see. Dedicated boards to one show. I actually joined DVDTalk (It took two weeks to confirm me as a member!). It looks like the most active "general" board around.

For me, what sucks the most is losing the obscure boards backlogged with a decade-plus full of posts about things. So if I watch a random, throwaway movie from 1997 I can read various comments and threads that've piled up over the years from people posting about it there. Not sure how to scratch that itch now, especially when I've just seen something strange or evocative or interesting -- for instance, I just watched the Twin Peaks movie, Fire Walk with Me, the other night -- and want to see how others reacted to it.
Obviously we can't make boards here for every single movie, show, etc.; seems that aspect of the "IMDb" experience will be lost forever.

This is my first time posting here. I just activated my account. I actually prefer the setup/use of "The Movie Database" website Discussion boards instead. It just looks a little nicer a little cleaner and more user friendly.

moviechat.org has the imdb layout but the place is dead. I prefer it here. Hopefully, more of the old crew will find us. If not, then they can eat a dick.

It is much quieter here...so far, at least. But after some of the squabbling I encountered over on the IMDb MB's, I find the atmosphere of this site rather a pleasant change.
