To anyone watching this series on BBC 4, you're seeing a cut down version with some episodes shortened by as much as half their original running time.

...all the episodes I've watched have run for close to 2 hours each. As a Vietnam era veteran, the series has brought back some flashback memories of that time...

Some episodes are almost 2 hours long but when the BBC shows them they're 55 minutes.
It seems we're getting the international version created by Ken Burns.

As it's the BBC it's probably cheaper. After all they have managers, consultants and overrated chat show presenters to pay so they can't waste money on actual TV programmes.
