It's on Syfy Channel now. The beginning without Ford's bored narration is a big improvement, but this movie is still boring and pointless. It's like watching "Alien from L.A." without the MST3K track. The Vangelis music is distracting, intrusive, and doesn't seem to fit the visuals. Everything about this movie is an unpleasant experience, it should have just been allowed to fade into obscurity and forgotten like the equally disastrous "Dune."

Never liked it. Style over substance. Deckard is a very boring character. A loser really. He needs the replicant Batty to be merciful and save his life. The best character is Emmett Walsh.

Yeah, I just can't stand when sci fi movies lack humanity and emotion. A bit of humor or a wise crack to break up the sterile, lifeless tone maybe could have helped, like the banter in "Alien."

I can see why the studio felt they needed a narration--but Ford was not happy about it and said it in the worst way he could-but I dont think it would have helped. It cant really qualify as a Noir film because the characters are just too thinly depicted.

The narration is not part of the Final Cut. It's only part of the theatrical cut.

POINTLESS? It's one of the most symbolic and existential sci-fi films ever made.
Maybe it needed a comic relief played by Rob Schneider...

I like Blade Runner, but I don't think it's a masterpiece or one of the greatest Sci-Fi films ever made. I can see why people love the film, but I can also see why people are not so fond of it. But in the end, I do think it's a good sci-fi film.

There's the hyperbolic attack from the annoying fanboy I expected. They seem to like any movie categorized as sci fi even if it's a fundamentally flawed turd that was polished 6 times. At least Demolition Man has social commentary, forward momentum, and one alternate cut.

Okay, BR is symbolic and existential yet fails to be remotely entertaining or enjoyable.

I absolutely love Blade Runner, no other movie I've seen except maybe a few Tarkovsky and Tarr films do a better of really examining what it means to be alive and what humanity truly feels and means to those who also possess it as well.

I can't blame you as while i used to slightly like the movie in the past (years ago, and many at that) i could not even finish it due to boredom on June 6th 2017 and killed it @ 50min into the movie.
it's pretty safe for me to say the new Blade Runner movie will be more enjoyable because of the director tied to it as i doubt he can make a movie this boring.

I'm not a huge fan but I like watching it from time to time just because I'm a big Harrison Ford fan. Wish he had starred in some better films beginning in the 1990s' though. Outside of Air Force One and the Jack Ryan films he had a lot of misses.
One of my favorite films that I wish had a Criterion release is Mosquito Coast. What an interesting film.
Back to Blade Runner, I think it's mostly atmosphere and there really isn't a lot of substance. Maybe I'm just not analyzing it properly enough. I really don't care in the end if Deckard is a Replicant or not.

I think a lot of fans just want to like it because it's Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford in their prime.

Can't expect a Trumpkin to have good taste in film. Maybe "Joe Dirt" is up in your alley?

It makes us examine our own existence and forces us to look closer at the meaning of our own lives. It is the exact opposite of cold and emotionless imo. It is also one of the greatest love stories of all time. and that is a great Judge Dredd slam
