Interesting list, Mr. Dacron. Thanks for posting. I didn't watch much network TV back then but I was aware of it. That was still the three network era, so when a show became a hit pictures of its cast were everywhere, they were interviewed in magazines like People, TV Guide. Some of the stars of those shows came and went fast, like most of the casts of Eight Is Enough, One Day At A Time, Lou Grant, WKRP. Even in the case of such long running series as The Waltons and Hawaii Five-O it was sort of the end of the line for many of the players who were featured them, as to fame, being in the public eye.

Seeing that "The Love Boat" was rated that high amazes me, it has the lamest and most dumb comedy track I've seen, now been rewatching it, but I can also see the attraction of old movie stars and TV actors playing in it, but it's still lame. Joan Blondell and Vincent Price went on board. Gene Kelly went to Hong Kong on The Love Boat Greer Garson made her last acting job on the ship (The guy is Howard Duff)

I have a friend who is a bloodthirsty wolf demon. After a hard day fighting fierce swordfights against other demons, he likes to relax by watching The Love Boat.

Also, re The Love Boat, it often featured older players, some whose fame went back to the Thirties, and this made it a treat for older viewers, while the babes were eye candy for young guys, so the show had a lot going for it, with something for everyone on each cruise. For reasons almost too obvious to need explaining, this would be near impossible to do today, as nearly all entertainment is geared to a specific demographic.
