Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Holy crap, that was painful to sit through ... while remaining conscious.
I think I hated it.
2049 did a fine job duplicating the glacially slow pace of the original while jettisoning the interesting characters. Rutger Hauer made that movie, 2049 has no equivalent.
And don't get me started on the contrived plot initiated by the improbable box of bones discovery. Or the unresolved replicant uprising. Or the made-for-TV end fight.
Officer K scrolling through endless reams of raw DNA data was a perfect metaphor for this movie.
Very disappointing. Avoid at all costs ... unless you need a cure for insomnia.

Avoid at all costs ... unless you need a cure for insomnia. Haha comments like this always make me laugh. That’s right folks, avoid this movie! Most people think it’s excellent but this random guy thinks it’s bad, so you will probably think it’s bad too!

I didn't like it much either even though the majority of the reviews have been positive. overly long and slow-paced. 4/10

They must have enjoyed the visuals. Or they had a nice nap. 2049 desperately needed a Roy Batty. Something. Anything, to break up the monotony. And what was up with that end fight? Instead of a desperate cat and mouse game through a decaying structure with a dying superman, we got Mel Gibson squaring off with Gary Busey beneath Danny Glover's lawn sprinklers ... while Indiana Jones was tied up in a car from Woody Allen's sci-fi comedy, Sleeper.

I saw the original BR in the theater. Thought it was awesome. Thought the critics were all wet. I'd say time has proved me right.
BR 2049. Thought it was terrible. I think the critics are all wet. I'm betting time will be on my side again.
Revisit this thread in 20 years.

hi224, Deckard by a mile. Otherwise, I would agree it was subpar.
