Domestic 31.5 Overseas 50. 0
Ouch! Poor Sony and Warner Bros. doesnt look like it will see much of a profit, as breakeven point is about 400 million.
I can already hear the refrain: DONT WORRY CHINA WILL SAVE IT!!!!!!!!
Yeah right, remember studios get 25% of gross ticket receipts there.

Doesn't surprise me, neither will the fact no one will be mentioning it in a few years time as a "classic" they should of left it alone all films today can look futuristic or whatever you want it to be, but back then it was brilliantly done and way ahead of its time. Just looks similar in scope to the new ghost in the shell with a different script and actors obv also to be honest jared probably left a bad taste in a lot of mouths too after ss

1. it's opening weekend 2. it should make a lot of bluray and VOD sales 3. merchandising sales 4. we don't need a Blade runner 3. (I haven't seen 2049 yet tho...)

It's cost about $150 to $200 million right?

Who cares? It’s still the best movie of the year so far.

It's cost about $150 to $200 million right? Yes, and it's co financed by Alcon and Sony. Not sure if that includes marketing. $400 million to break even, probably more. Alcon Entertainment said their survival depends on this film after flopping with the Point Break remake. And Sony, except for Spiderman, hasn't been able to catch a break either.

It's only the first weekend, though.
It's going to be running for awhile and it's getting good "word of mouth" from viewers.
I think it will be ok.

We all know general audience has shit taste. Hard to make a lot of money if it's not a dumb comic-book movie or a big franchise

I don't like the movie that much, but I do hope it breaks even at least. We can always use more SF in theaters, even if that means we need movies that aren't that good to do well.
