Of course you do as a business owner. Again, it happens all the time and especially if you are taking a general message of sin personally. Any person who is automatically offended by a sin they are under no obligation to refrain from is a goofball who has way too much time on their hands. Of course, people are more than welcome to continually exaggerate the extent of the offense since perception is assumed to be reality, but if a person has the right to be offended to the point of kicking out a customer simply because of a religious view, they shouldn't have a business anymore than someone offended by a political view. There's no difference since they both are under the umbrella of speech and religious bigotry is protected against.

there is only 1 God teh God found in the bible. we dont know what Jesus Christ looked liek exactly we dont know. Interestingly, by contrast the Qu'ran offers quite a detailed description of what Mohammed looked like.

What "happens all the time" has precious little to do with what an owner is required to do. Anybody who is an assh!le calling people sodomites or scum and the like can't expect there to be no blowback for their nasty aggression. Of course apologists for the backward can continue to minimize and shuffle around the fact that being an assh!le generates consequence, whether that sets said apologist off into an insult tantrum themselves or not. A "political view" is orthogonal to aggressive insults, and it is the latter that those with basic sense should expect some human response from. And again, "religious views" are not carte blanche golden tickets for anything anybody wants to do consequence-free. Be an obnoxious assh!le, get treated like one. Disowning for having a different belief would be silly although being a hateful, lowdown dirty, resenful atheist livng in my house could get you the boot at 18. It's best not to bite the hand that feeds you.

Without seeing the pamphlet or knowing the manner of their proselytizing I don't know how much was reasonable offense or extrapolation on his part. The part that really needs to be known is: WHEN... did the owner decide to kick the Christians Out of His Coffee Shop? If the Christians were handing out pamphlets to the other customers while they were inside his Coffee Shop, the I would side with his right to ask them to leave... I just wish he kept his anger in check through... If he saw the Christians giving out pamphlets out on the public sidewalk, and decided he didn't want to serve them once they were inside, even though they were keeping their religious beliefs to themselves... then I would side with the customer. Because this seems to me, to be exactly like the 1960s when some business owners still would not serve blacks, even when the laws were enacted saying that business owners could not refuse service to anyone based on just their skin color. It was wrong then, and still wrong now. He should have just said to himself: "They are here, but they are just having coffee and nothing else, and then they will leave soon...Just let it go." Even, if it was such a big issue, why didn't he just ask them to leave a couple of times, and if they still wouldn't go, then call the police? But he didn't do either, so, I'll say it again, I still have to wonder if this owner really thought he would never have to serve "Bible Thumping Christians"... In the end, I too think, that there is a part of the story that we are not being told here, because as another poster put it, Why would any business owner threaten the livelihood of his business by losing his cool like that... the other side of the story more than likely concerns 'praying' and 'chanting' over their coffee. along with the signage and the printed t-shirts they were wearing. geeesh if i were that business owner, i would have had hungry lion sound effects going off in the background as they approached the counter. open signs of participation in any religion are an insult to humanity at large.

If the owner was refusing service because of their religion then he is guilty of discrimination. If he refuses because they were genuinely being disruptive and bothering other customers, for whatever reason, then that is a different matter since this is a no-no for any person or group and so not discriminatory. His aggressive words by way of justification do not help his case though, since they seem aimed at their views rather than their behaviour.

Their fault for being out of touch with the times. Coffee shops are usually populated by pretentious snobs trying to look sophisticated and cultured when the place is likely owned by Starbucks.

Some years ago, I was in a McDonald's having an egg and cheese biscuit, when a man approached a large table of younger adults and started proselytizing about christianity and creation, et al. To the utter embarrassment of my friend, I started telling her (loudly) about this wonderful new discovery that scientists had made about evolution and wasn't science amazing in being able to quantify and verify their findings. Eventually the bible-thumper gave up and moved on. Surprisingly, neither management nor cops showed up!

I know you will see the synchronicity in this story from my past... An ex-boyfriend, whose was a hard-drinkin' unapologetic "don't do the god thing" kinda guy, (one of my poorer choices in boyfriends) was wrested from his hangover by two JW women at his door on a sunday morning. He lurched himself out of bed, totally au natural, flung open the door and screeched "WHAT DO YOU WANT!!!?*#@#? No JW ever showed up at his door ever again.

nfl declares moratorium of hot cheerleaders
in an unprecedented move not seen since martin luther king presented a peace plan to the united states the national football league has determined postulates shall no longer solely masturbate to the jets flying overhead but instead are bound and led by those television contracts this close to slicing off their heads.

I always apologize when I'm wrong. It just doesn't happen very often here.
I just know how to be cynical too. Don't confuse the two even if the two confuse you.
Sorry for that last part...

Sorry, but I have to wonder if this was staged...Seems pretty far fetched that a shop owner would do that. Unlikely that kind of outburst would promote business. That's a good reason to think it wasn't staged. The owner won't playact in some kind of charade that could hurt his business. Well of course not...was it really the shop owner?
