I had vague memories of seeing parts of this movie a long time ago on Cinemax. Pretty solid apocalyptic Grind House movie with a "precursor to Mad Max" vibe.

Sorry, but it's CRAP. For some unknown reason it took me roughly around thirty-five years to get around to finally watching it. It was almost UTTER CRAP. 2/10 or even less.

It's right next to The Road Warrior on my list of favorite post-apocalyptic films which ranks it very high. It's to post-apocalypse films what Colossus: The Forbin Project was to dystopian sci-fi: Often overlooked but an all around solid piece of genre fiction.
I found the wasteland more interesting and I think it was a bit weaker towards the end but overall I found the world engrossing and the odd relationship between Vic and Blood fascinating.
It's probably too misanthropic (and perhaps misogynistic) for most but if you're looking for a post-apocalyptic film, you're probably in the mood for that sort of approach.
