Whoever takes over from Strachan needs to stop trying to make Tierney a right back. He is much too left-footed and is looking like a square peg in a round hole. Many a left winger must have been rubbing their hands at the thought of facing him in the World Cup. Left back Andy Roberson is at least as good as Tierney but I can't think of a good reason why they can't both play on the left. One in front of the other, interchanging when necessary. Like Gareth Bale they are both converted wingers and would surely get more balls into the box than Phillips.
