Ain't that the truth! My beef with pro-lifers (anti-abortion) is that they are really pro-birthers - once the kid pops out of the uterus, they couldn't care less about it's fate - poverty, abuse, grows up to be a non-productive citizen. But the pro-lifers don't want to support any social programs that might help, OR promote the education and use of contraceptives that would render the entire problem moot. My thought - every anti-abortion protester at the abortion clinic must commit to adopting a fetus after it is born and supporting it until age 18. Won't make that commitment? Then shut up and go home.

The outcome of a living baby will almost always be better than the peaceful rest of a dead fetus.
Further, there is plenty of discussion regarding birth control. There's not a whole lot of protests going on for the banning of condoms out there.
The problem remains that abortion are primarily done specifically because the people don't use birth control not because they never heard of it...In short, they practice stupid sex.

It was less than 20 weeks... "Every kids deserves a chance to have a choice at life. Every child deserves a chance to have a choice at life. Every baby deserves a chance to have a choice at life. And every parent should be supported in their responsibility and commitment to raise that child." - Tim "Babies Are Super Important Unless I F__cked Up" Murphy

My response:
The first three sentences are the same except for the noun.
The rest of it addresses the parents needing support of their responsibility and commitment. No mention of their choice. And since when did children/babies/kids have a choice about being born?
Murphy is a moron - oops, what a maroon - just in how he chose his words. Clearly an emotional trigger statement to milk votes as Cine said.

This implies that children would rather not be born.
The choice is built into the notion that a prekid shouldn't be killed.

cooljgs -
Prekids can be prevented. And should; there are enough people on the planet now. The earth can't continue to support this population without humans suffering and dying.

The outcome of a living baby will almost always be better than the peaceful rest of a dead fetus. How can it be? A child that was never born never has any of the needs or cravings that must be constantly fulfilled by a human in order to make life seem tolerable or enjoyable. A non-existent person does not have any need or desire for life. I've never heard of any of the anti-abortion protestors stating that they feel sorry for a rock or a fleck of dust because it doesn't have the chance to enjoy life. Nobody lamenting the fact that there aren't any Martians getting a chance at life or being able to attain the salvation of Christ. Since the best that can be hoped for in life is to have all of our cravings and needs satisfied (which most people who are ever born do not), then being non-existent is effectively the same as paradise. No need or craving is left unfulfilled, because there are no needs or cravings. The unborn baby literally doesn't know or care about what it's supposedly missing out of, and I don't see how that can be a bad thing, especially as Christians usually believe that the aborted foetus gets an express pass to heaven.

However, the suffering of people is not dependent on its population. The United States has more than enough room
The problem is people are complaining about the expectations of society for the person that has stupid sex.
I have no idea why except that they assume the best solution is abortion when there is no reason whatsoever to think that.
The best solution is birth control.
The second best solution is legal abandonment if the kid is not wanted.
The worst possible solution is abortion in the overwhelming majority of circumstances...i.e. outside of rape. There is no good outcome from it except for the temporary reduction of an irrational fear the woman may have regarding her responsibilities toward it.

Have you ever known a woman who has had to make the terrible decision to have an abortion? I have. It is not their first choice nor do they think it is the best solution. Birth control fails. Genetic mutations happen. This isn't just about people having stupid sex.
