Right, so it looks like Snoke is using some kind of technique on Rey that has not been explored in a canon film before. Just my opinion, but it looks like he's manipulating her very life essence, perhaps through direct midi-chlorian tampering. Did your opinion of who he is change after seeing this scene? Vote now. Sorry, but Palpatine, Vader, Windu and Rax are not choices because they are not valid options.

Yousa know Jar Jar Abrams and Disney can't be original. Snoke is a senator from Naboo back when Yoda was just a Padawan. He told Yoda dat hims knew da Darkside. It was da "pathway to all sorts of abilities some consider to be unnatural." Snoke begged Yoda to "use (his) knowledge". But Yoda stabbed hims in da head with his Padawan lightsaber and it got stuck. Yoda thought Snoke was dead. And it took Snoke a thousand years to pull it out without killing himself.
Mystery solved.
