Yes, at a Borders once. Actually that was the last time I went there before they closed so perhaps it was prophetic.

Yeah, once. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met. I had a good long talk to him. He was covered in hair, had a long beard, and wore an old cowboy hat and a kind of colorful poncho like Peruvians usually wear. He told me that he hadn't had a decent conversation with anyone for a long time until I came along. He wasn't on drugs either.
Haven't seen him since. I hope he's alright. I'd like to talk to him again someday.

I spent 50 years living in Manhattan.
There was a homeless person sleeping under my window, on the street, for a period of time.

Yes. They usually ask me for money to buy themselves a burger or something in a parking lot. If I have a few dollars on me, more often than not, I'll give it to them. I also met one homeless man who was a veteran with a dog while I was doing some church volunteering back in May 2016. He is sleeping under a tree near a Wal-Mart.

Several times. Most of them are panhandlers that sit near the intersections on the divider.
Once in a great while, especially around the holidays, I'll give them a few bucks if I happen to be carrying cash. I usually give it to The Salvation Army (the red buckets in front of the stores), but if I witness somebody freezing to death and they just want a warmer place to stay, then I don't mind pitching in.
I do remember one guy in front of me while sitting in the left turn lane got out of his car and threatened violence at some beggar. I could've sworn the driver was going to beat the ever-loving crap out of him. Luckily, the light changed, and he was on his way.
On regular days while heading to work, I usually do this (LOL):

I didn't realize there were places without homeless people.
DC has so many homeless people, at night you're practically stepping over them to walk.

I didn't realize there were places without homeless people. DC has so many homeless people, at night you're practically stepping over them to walk. Sad but true. At least in most largish cities. Of course it's sometimes hard for people to differentiate actual people in need with lazy deadbeats who have a home but take advantage of morons. If some grubby looking tattoo covered millennial asks you for some change tell him to fuck off. He's not homeless. Tattoos and piercings are expensive as hell. If some guy approaches you while you're pumping gas and asks for a cigarette tell him no. He's not homeless just trying to see if you're weak. Aggressive pan handlers are not homeless either but they are best at getting cash from scared middle class white folks. If they get loud then get louder and start cursing. "I said NO! BACK THE FUCK UP NOW!!!" There's always easier pickings so they will leave you alone. On a different matter, I just ran out of gas and left my wallet & phone at home. Can y'all please give me a few bucks so I can get back to my house? God bless you.

I have. When asked for money I'll sometimes offer to buy them something to eat. If they refuse then it was most likely for alcohol or drugs which I'm not going to pay for. Before New York cleaned up the Theatre District, I was visiting one winter a saw a most ingenious Homeless man. The subway grates along the sidewalk blast warm air constantly (think Marilyn Monroe dress). He had taken an ex-large trash bag, cut it so that it opened lengthwise, and tied each corner to the grilling creating a tent, much like a balloon. He would then go into it to sleep, perfectly warm from the blasting subway air.

I saw a lot of homeless people out there. When I could, i bought people something to eat on my debit card. I haven't seen any homeless people around where I now Live in pennsylvania.

A bum, a hobo, a beggar, a destitute? I lived in NYC. Need I say more? It's a true shame that there are so many there, and in this country at all. You'd think we could solve that problem.
