I saw it on Saturday and gotta say, I found it confusing. I'm not much of a one for puzzles and whodunnits, so maybe it was that, but I was left kind of bored by it. I couldn't tell you now how the killer was caught... to my recollection the cop just kind of decided he was the killer and went after him.
And for the life of me I can't work out why Val Kilmer's character was in the movie. Did he actually contribute much of anything at all? I remember a couple of goofy scenes where he acted like an ass and seemed to be drunk off his ass, but that was pretty much it?
Anyway, like I say it really wasn't my kind of movie. People who read the book might like it better?

I wanted it to be good, but I'm not all that surprised at the bad reviews. There was just something "off" about the trailers. I got that feeling too. It looked goofy as hell. Not a good look for a thriller. When I heard the title and saw the screen shot of the corpse with a snowman head I thought it was about a killer snowman. Too bad it wasn't. Have you seen Jack Frost (1997) ?

So a movie about a murderous supernatural snowman would have been better? I would love a movie about a murderous supernatural snowman (not Jack Frost) that took itself more or less seriously--well, not utterly seriously, with that premise, only not always self-referential and goofy. R.L. Stine had a fairly good take on this concept that could be made better--I'd be interested in going with that...

There was a Superfriends cartoon where a snowman gets hit by electricity, comes to life and goes on a rampage. It was pretty cool.

I think that was a Spider Man cartoon. It could have happened on both though. It was a snowman in a lonely wilderness with a power line-the line falls on the snowman and it gets alive and maybe bigger then starts stomping through the forest. I dont remember what happened after that though.

I dont remember what happened after that though. 41a Trouble with Snow Spider-Man takes on a gigantic living snowman brought to life by chemical reactions and an electric charge, that grows after every snowfall. Peter is sent to take photos of the snowman by Jameson. He fights it, but it is so cold it freezes his web. He uses a copper cable to drain the snowman of its electricity and destroy them. I think the Super Friends fought a giant Yeti in an episode but it was not made out of snow.

Well, I haven't seen the movie but I read the book.
I thought the book was good but I could see right away that it would be difficult to make this into a movie.
They may have over-reached a bit - but I will see the movie anyway (when I get the chance).

If anyone has spoilers questions about the book, I'll answer them (as best I can) in this thread.
