The ability to inspired trust and faith. Aside from WW, all DCEU's been doing is making people watch garbage and undo the hard work the MCU put into people being able to go to CBMs and think "This is really over-the-top and wondrous stuff...and I like it for that." Is that, in your opinion, the only valid way to experience them positively? No, but it's something that was rare until 2008 when Iron Man came out. Before then most audience goers were wary of anything wondrous in a CBM and thought the "grounded" way was the only way to go.

You didn't find the Raimi movies "wondrous"? I wanted to, but Tobey's sad sack Peter Parker was grating after a while. Took away from my overall enjoyment.

I feel like this aspect of his performances was emphasized a lot more in the second and third movies. The first one, in particular, really captivated me. I always find it funny when you talk about that aspect of movies feeling "wondrous" in the sense that you "felt like a kid again" while watching them or something to that effect -- because that's exactly how Spider-Man 1, all three prequels and particularly Episode I, and X2 especially made me feel. I know you fucking hate the all three prequels and every second of every X-Men movie committed to film, but -- yeah, those are prolly my most memorable experiences of, erm, cinematic "wonderment." Oh, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy obviously.

The Raimi Spider-man movies had a special magic to them, even Spider-man 3 which had its problem still had it.
I can't quite put my finger on what it is but I know that none of the Spider-man movies since have had it.
They were what I would consider the ideal summer blockbuster back then.
