Both solid flicks by two of the best directors out there, but I found 2049 to be the superior film.

I haven't seen Blade Runner 2049 yet, but I loved Dunkirk. I'll come back and vote once I've seen the other one.

2049 by a hair, they are both Brilliant. I also picked 2049, but they are both amazing and 2 of the best big-budget movies in years.

Curious as to what people enjoyed about Dunkirk. It's a hollow, emotionless film-- which is insane considering the subject matter. There's virtually no character development in the entire film, by the end you don't really care who lives and who dies. How do you make a war film about hope and make it so depressing?
Nolan is my favorite director and many of his films are among my absolute favorites, but Dunkirk didn't do anything for me.

It's almost 2 years since I made this thread. Has anyone's opinion changed since then? I'm still sticking with BL2049, but it's looking back it's even more apparent how special these 2 movies were/are.

While I'm a big WW2 Buff, I had to go with BR 2049. It's a solid film and almost as great as the original, which is a rarity among sequels. Dunkirk is a great film on the big screen (both were actually), but I haven't revisited it as I have BR 2049 (I bought both on 4k).

Well, BR 2049 sucked and bombed at the box office like the original. I haven't seen Dunkirk, but I'm sure it's dreary looking and devoid of humanity like every other Nolan movie.
