Tough choice. Loved them both, and could be biased being a big "Bladerunner" fan.
"Dunkirk" edges it out by a hair for me. The sound design was incredible. Everything felt huge and real. Sometimes I find Nolan's style a little cold, but holy crap, he made me feel like I was there. Another great performance by Tom Hardy despite his face being mostly obscured.
"Dunkirk" feels very real, while "BR 2049" hits more of an escapist, fantastical note. It's hard to compare these two, especially as someone who enjoyed both a lot. Saw them both twice in the cinema, as they were each a very good theatrical experience.
I don't know why, but the first comparison was something like seeing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra live. Both movies are just huge visually/audially...even overwhelmingly so at times. It's hard to pick one.

BR 2049 easily. I never understood the fuss about Dunkirk. If it had been directed by anyone else, it wouldn't have attracted half the attention.

BR 2049
Both are essentially perfect movies, though.

I was underwhelmed by Dunkirk in all honesty. I think it could and perhaps should have been so much more given the subject matter and the scale of the event. It was all rather low key.
As for BR2049, I was entertained by it and mesmerised by the cinematography and visuals.

I feel like I’d want to rewatch BR more. Both are great tho.

neither approach "greatness" in any way, but br2049 is a little more engaging.

I enjoy them both but Blade Runner comes out on top.

...it's apples and oranges...I think both films are equally brilliant... Apples and oranges, that´s my vision of it, too. I like both.

Dunkirk was more historically accurate than Blade Runner 2049, but didn't develop the science fiction themes nearly as well. I think they should stop trying to compete with one another, and work together to try and achieve greatness.
