Gone with the Wind is gorgeous but it rubs me the wrong way I've found hardly any movies to be historically accurate. I wish they were, but they're not. They're all fantasies with the subjective points of view of the writers and directors who are products of their time. I also don't expect characters in movies to be necessarily representative of their particular groups. I'm more concerned with story, acting, cinematography, soundtrack, etc. Maybe there should be a huge disclaimer at the start of every movie to remind everyone not to take the film as a documentary on the subject. But I'm not going to exclude a good film from my list just because Margaret Mitchell's myopic view of the old South was primarily based on familial anecdotes she heard as a child and not the hindsight benefit of 21st century historiography.
