Wow. Toothless NCAA. They allowed UNC to go unpunished after 18 years of cheating and violation of the rules. No titles will be vacated. What a disgrace! The 2005 and 2009 national basketball titles should have been gone. 10 players in the 2005 team were in the sham classes. 1,000 athletes. Shame.

I called this last night (and won a $100 bet). UNC has gotten away with this forever. When finally the pressure got to much, the NCAA had to investigate. When they dragged their feet for so long, I knew that Carolina would wiggle out. Not even a restriction on campus visits. Fuck, if you have a player fart in church and the NCAA hears about it, you will lose visits. The NCAA has always loved Carolina. Like a boy loves the first girl who let him touch her tittie. They can do no wrong.

"While student-athletes likely benefited from the so-called 'paper courses' offered by North Carolina, the information available in the record did not establish that the courses were solely created, offered and maintained as an orchestrated effort to benefit student-athletes," said Greg Sankey, the committee's chief hearing officer and commissioner of the SEC.
How in the hell can he say this with a straight face? So, now someone can set up a dummy business, paid a couple non-athletes, then pay everyone on the athletic teams and use this as a defense. "Well, I paid others too".

Once again the sham that is the NCAA and "college athletes" gets exposed again. I cannot fathom why they keep up the pretence of amateurism. Nobody truly believes that there is no inducements for athletes, nor that some 'students' are there because of academics and just happen to be superstar athletes to boot. It truly is laughable.

One and done in college hoops was a free pass for this to happen. After Cecile Newton sold Cam to Auburn and the NCAA knew about it and punished NO ONE, it became painfully obvious the NCAA has no power or at least is unwilling to give up cash to regain some semblance of ethics.
I'm not a big fan of basketball anymore on any level but I still love college football. I guess we all have to just grin and bear it but it sure does stink sometimes.

The NCAA has no ethics whatsoever. And let's face it, athletes at big time college sports programs can do basically anything, they don't have to study, they don't have to abide by the same rules as the rest of the peasant students do, athletes and fraternity members are above consequences at colleges and no one is willing to fucking acknowledge it because we want to believe we live in a fair world of sunshine and roses instead of the rigged cesspool that society actually is.
