I have not had a TV for over 10 years now. I used to read news on internet. The guy called OldSamVimes convinced me that watching or reading news is not worth it as it fills you with negativity. I know it is a subjective opinion but I still felt it was true in my case. News made me angry more often than not. The politicians make me go mad. So I removed the bookmarks of news sites and for past year I have not watched or read news. The main way news reaches me is from the content I read on IMDB V2. Occasionally I hear about things when I am on job. But I am happy that I stopped watching news. But now I am trying to look at life in a more positive way so I am going to start watching news or reading news again. Please expect me to be on this new board in the future. How about you people? Do you watch news regularly (or read)?

Theres some changes here on IMDb. Yeah I tend to switch over to SkyNews at 12 or 1 in the morning on the hour to see if theres anything going on in the world. Used to love FoxNews for its mass hysteria but it was cut from the channels in the UK cos of too few viewers. Don't blame anybody for not watching the misery anyway. Check the BBC, RTE(Ireland) etc sites to read the local news throughout the day too.

I catch the local news sometimes before I go to bed, but I don't regularly watch it.

Yes, and it doesn’t make me angry. As a Brexit/ Trump supporter, life is sweet 🙏

I like NY1 -- the local channel for spectrum/timewarnercable subscribers in NYC. it's like Westchester's news channel 12. they are the only channel that CONTINUOUSLY BROADCASTS HOW MASS TRANSIT IS DOING. srsly, only when it is shitting snow or hailing king kong's tears do the other channels GIVE A SHIT.
Otherwise I like the free daily papers Metro and AMNY, and the internet feed cards.
when it comes to 'real news' as my mother calls it, it is depressing and ire creating. srsly, my mother has it on all the time and as soon as some black person does something wrong my father goes on a big tyrade.
apologies to all the African American people here or those who do not do anything wrong.

Why would you join an Internet discussion board if you don't watch TV or read news?

No, but I keep up with major news stories inadvertently through notifications-Facebook headlines, Twitter trends. If something is big enough you’re going to receive it somehow if you have a cell phone without having to scope it out. We don’t have to watch news to receive the news anymore.

I tune in to CNN once & awhile to see if the world is ending. Too often they've just Breaking News about nothing & I tune back out. I remember when Breaking News meant -breaking- -news- & not top of the hour clickbait'ish headlines.
Toronto has a local news/weather/live news scroll/traffic/sports scores on one screen CP24. I'll cruise on by that a few times a day, & usually late night. Basically it's like all news radio on tv. They've a website if you wanna look.
Otherwise, no. I used to watch the poli shows like Fareed Zakaria GPS & Meet the Press to get a fix on stuff. Now even they can't come up with anything except hypotheses & guests pushing their books.
Alas, even local news is whatever flashes the best on camera. A car rollover isn't more newsworthy just cuz you can get a news chopper live on site. TV news is basically now America's Funniest Home Videos only worse.
I much prefer reading actual news online.

I used to in the mornings before school and work prior to broadband Internet. Now that I have quick access to just about everything, I hop on the old computer and go straight to Yahoo.
When I was a kid pre-Internet, it was a must. First it was the morning news to see if there was anything announced about school being closed, then onto cartoons. Dad would read the local paper.
I still notice some of my relatives watch Fox News, even though it mostly runs in the background. I have a cable subscription, but only use TV to view certain shows live.
I may every great once in a while tune in to see what's happening in my area. It's mostly something depressing anyhow. Plus, I don't care about these guests that they have. It's usually some cooking segment.

Local news only. My husband listens to MSNBC sometimes and I can't stand it. I have to leave the room.
