I Love This Movie!  It is 1 of My Top 2 Favorite Godzilla Movies (Number 1 is " GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS") ever.

i like it pretty cool but it's maybe the weakest of the "origin" installments (though it is next in my queue, 2000 remains unseen).
Big G looked great.

I think it rates close to the "lets stick Perry Mason in this film" Godzilla, but I really like the starker set look of the original better. Too many ingredients spoil the broth. Still, the 1985 is pretty good, I think. The hero is a pretty good character, and we can care about him. The mercenaries were done a bit too Hollywood (only the leader surviving, a huge Hollywood cliché, and already overdone and dull by the 1960s). The other huge cliché about the egg they miss for a sequel has been a "groaner" since the 1950s. A few too many such stereotypes, and the blinding use of effects just dulls us and takes away the atmosphere.
Still, it's a 6.3/10. Not bad. Better than over half the movies ever made.

I really Really REALLY liked that 1 scene in the Movie when Godzilla attacked and destroyed the Russian Submarine.
