Actually she was roundly condemned for that. She was booed severely at the game and called out by the media even after she tried to claim it was a joke. She said they asked a comedian to sing the anthem so what did they expect. Her spitting was an imitation of a ballplayer spitting tobacco was her excuse.

Imagine if she did that today as opposed to the pre social media 90's. Considering you hate everything about the US you sure do seem obsessed with out great nation.
