I'm terribly, terribly sorry, lenlenlen1 . It's always devastating, no matter how long or short the life. About the best I can offer you is the reminder that you gave little Roscoe a very happy one (which is more than all too many kitties get), of which I'm sure simply because of the fact that it was important to you to share your grief. That means he was loved and cared for. Those are the things for which he depended on you, and that he was fortunate to have had. Thank you. I am confident that he was happy and knew he was loved.

I'm sorry about that lenlenlen1. Been there, done that, I feel your pain. It's the sad part of having animals, but so sudden like that and at a young age. I wonder if he got into/ate something he shouldn't have? Young cats (and dogs) are curious critters and are good at finding things that can hurt them. I'm trying to make peace with the fact that I'll never really know why he passed so suddenly. Thanks for the concern.

Sorry to hear about your cat Lenlenlen1. I love animals and have had a lot of pets over the years including a cat and I can say from experience losing a pet is always hard 'cause they are like a part of your family. Just know wherever your cat is now I am sure he is happy and would want you to be happy too. Thank you

You have my sympathies too. I know how awesome and lovable cats can be. I've lost a few as well so I know it's tough.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've known some great cats over the years. Grew up around them.

Lost a longtime pet cat last year, so I understand how bad it makes you feel. Two years was not enough time for you and your cat. Condolences, time makes it easier. After a few months, I wound up adopting two kittens that needed a home. They needed me and I needed them, if you love cats, or any pet, there's always one in need you can help.

I've had pets my whole life, and losing one is so very devastating. I have also been a volunteer most of my adult life in fostering pets for rescue groups, and have lost many a young kitty who was fine one minute and gone the next. Sometimes we have had autopsies done; some youngsters have a congenital heart defect that we didn't know about, or a tumor undetected. Any vet will tell you that there are a huge number of reasons that a cat will just seize and die - perhaps his heart couldn't grow enough to support his growing body. Please know that there is nothing you did wrong, and when he was with you, he was happy, loved, well-cared for and that is the best any cat - or human - can hope for. You can be at peace despite his sudden passing, because you did everything right; he had a great home while he was alive. Remember that. It helps.

I know not everyone has pets and I know not everyone that has pets likes cats. But I lost my feisty little angel today and I'm totally depressed.
He was a tough, vocal, mischievous little guy, lots of personality for a cat, and perfectly healthy as far as I knew. It was very sudden, a seizure of some kind. He went from fine to dead in five minutes. I tried CPR but it didn't do the trick. Not how I thought I'd start the day.
I have all these memories of him. He was one of my favorite pets I ever had and he wasn't with me long enough. Right about now I'd give anything to have him back.
RIP my little Roscoe 2015-2017
EDIT: Sorry to spill my stuff on everyone, and thank you SO much to everyone for all the kind words. Its gratifying to see this much humanity, since the internet usually brings out the ugly instead. Peace Sorry for your loss. I have a 12 year old manx and she still is as active as when she was a year or two old. I dread the day her health starts deteriorating but sadly it's inevitable. Cats are awesome.

I've been doing a little research on my own (by that I mean Google, lol) and I'm coming across a LOT of stories about perfectly healthy cats who just died suddenly. Heart conditions seem to be the thing most point to.
I am confident he was happy and knew he was loved, and I'm confident that pets are welcome into a place of happiness in whatever comes beyond.

My deepest sympathy for your loss..... The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My condolences. Had a cat for 17 years. I was so heartbroken after his demise I had a weird (didnt feel like a) dream of a shadowy panther figure crawling over me and compelling me to embrace it, and I felt some relief after I woke up.

Take your trolling elsewhere shiteater. A thread about someone's pet passing away isn't the place.

Thank you.
All this talk of what comes after reminds me, strangely enough, of the last episode of the TV show Lost. In it the entire cast of characters end up in the afterlife together, even though not all of them have died on the show yet. They are all in their prime, and they all arrive at the same time, and they all seem happy, content. Former reviled foes even apologize and are given forgiveness.
I like to believe that heaven is like that. A great place where you want for nothing, everyone you ever loved is there in their prime, there's friendship and understanding and forgiveness. And no one was waiting because you all got there together. Its one nice big backyard get together without the oppressing heat or mosquitos, lol.
