Happy Birthday Marsha! Thanks for everything you have done for a lot of people. In her later years, Hunt became more active in progressive causes such as supporting same-sex marriage, ending global poverty, rising the awareness of climate change and promoting peace in Third world countries. A lesser known movie from 1942, in wich her name stand first. Unusual noir with a female detective from 1949. Thank to her engagement in anti-HUAC movements roles became scarce, and she had to find work in minor movies like this. A later guest star role on Star Trek Generations episode Too Short a Season 1988

A belated happy birthday to Marsha Hunt! Or Betty, as she actually was called before going to Hollywood. Marsha's long life can be divided into four main parts, as illustrated by the picture below. The first part is as a young girl in New York City, where she spent most of her childhood. Her mother, Minabel, was a fairly well-known performer in show business, at least locally. Notice Marsha's bob cut, which was a very typical fashion style of girls in the 1920s (think flappers like Louise Brooks). I would estimate that it's from circa 1927-1930. The second part is, of course, her days as an accomplished Hollywood actress during the 1930s and 1940s. Mostly ingenue roles at Paramount, MGM gave her the opportunity to play more character roles. Part three is her work for the United Nations and various other charity project since the mid-1950s, while more or less blacklisted in Hollywood. As you can see, she is holding a brochure that says "UN 20". This picture is from the mid-1960s, meaning that the title probably had to do with United Nations turning 20 years as an organization. Part four of her life is as an elderly who has aged gracefully both physically and mentally.
