No.
ALL directors have their slip ups, especially if they are out long enough.

I don't, no. I do remember my late brother telling me about twenty years ago I think, that Woody Allen ws the only living film director whose films he ever bothered to go and see, he didn't think any other modern director made anything that was any good. I'm not sure that counts as him regarding Allen as a god though, just not rubbish like the rest.

No, even the ones I like are just ordinary people with creative ideas who've worked hard and maybe even had a bit of luck on their side.

No. Perhaps the closest was Steven Spielberg when I was younger. But then I grew up.

No one really has that sort of track record for me. Or the directors who do haven't been very prolific, which is a requirement for that status for me. There are a number of musicians/composers and visual artists who have "God" status for me.

I don't believe in mythological Gods, but I have an objectivist side to me. I believe some people are just more extraordinary than others and they don't come around too often. I've had moments of brilliance in my life and created things, but I'll never do anything to warrant being remembered even a few minutes after I'm dead (family, friends, and acquaintances excluded), much less decades, or centuries. Yes, there have been Gods and Devils among us who transcended the human race for good and evil reasons, as long as western civilization is around they'll be remembered. As far as artists go, the likes of William Shakespeare, Mozart, Beethoven, Michelangelo, Davinci, etc are objective Gods. Who they were as people doesn't matter, their flaws or failures don't matter, we only see them through the things they created, which are still studied and worshipped centuries later. It's hard to say if filmmakers will elevate to this level since film is so new and such a collaborative effort, the cast is front and center, the director is merely in the credits. Hitchcock certainly has the best shot with his output, his influence, and because of the star he created around himself. The two living artists who could most likely elevate to God status are Stephen King and Stan Lee, and neither are filmmakers. This is all based on the assumption that western civilization continues to dominate culture, for all I know the east could control the world in the next few years.
