In General, Do You Prefer A Male, Or Female voice, when listening to music ?? I enjoy both. But I listen to traditional heavy metal, and that genre tends to have more male vocalists than female.

Female, by far. Too bad most of my favorite genres are dominated by male vocalists, but I love great female singers enough that I'll often venture outside my typical tastes to hear them (eg, country with Neko Case, dream-pop/shoegaze for Hope Sandoval/Mazzy Star and Cocteau Twins)

Female, but both sexes have some amazing voices. And by amazing, I don't just mean technique, but voices that suit the music very well.

I wish there were more female metal vocalists (and more all-female metal bands). The best I've heard is Alissa White-Gluz.

There aren't many female vocalists in extreme metal, but quite a few in the power/symphonic sub-genres (Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, After Forever, Leaves' Eyes, etc.). By far my favorite is Anneke van Giersbergen from The Gathering:

Female, even though I probably have more singers at the top of my list who are male. It's just that overall I prefer female singers (and I prefer to work with and hire female singers, too).

The singer is Seraina Telli and here's a track that shows off her impressive vocal range. She goes from "pretty" to "powerful" to "rough".

I feel the same way. I have a lot of favourite male singers too but I prefer female singers the most at the end of the day and I relate to the lyrics of their songs more.

It depends on the Genre of the songs and ultimately the song itself. I like both almost evenly with maybe a slight lean on the female.

If I'm going to put headphones on and have someone singing directly into my eardrums for hours on end, I definitely prefer it to be female.

While my favorite bands feature a pretty even distribution of male and female vocals, most of my favorite vocalists are female.

tpfkar Don't think it's really a concept for me. But I am pretty sure male voice dominates in the music I like from the pre-'00s and evens up after that, though I haven't actually counted. Gangsta

I don`t really have a preference. A good singer is a good singer.
